My recent trip to #AuroraHolidays in Utsjoki, Finland included a dog sledding expedition at #LevajokLodge in Levajok, Norway. The huskies were very excited to see us, we could hear them as soon as we pulled into the driveway. Our guide, Marion, gave us a thorough explanation of how to handle the sled and emphasized how to be safe, both for us and the dogs. Each sled was pulled by 6 dogs so once we got moving, we cruised at a pretty fast speed. We were on the Teno River which is part of the course for the Finnmarksløpet, Europe’s longest sled dog race. The 1200 km race goes right by the lodge. I opted to just be a passenger so was able to see all of the glorious scenery. Arja was the musher who drove the sled. Her skill was quite impressive; she made handling the sled and the dogs look deceptively easy. We had a chance to talk with Marion and Arja after the ride and learn more about the business and about mushing in general. They are both passionate about the sport, their enthusiasm helped me understand why dog sledding is such an important part of Nordic culture. If you are interested in experiencing the exhilarating sport of dog sledding, #LevajokLodge is the perfect...

Read moreVeldig hyggelig sted. Flott hytte med all komfort.
