This is quite different as being used to. Actually my review acts against recent reviews on Google and booking dot com not presenting the right image. It seems fake reviews have been placed or are bought by the owners of this accommodation: It is hard to believe that almost all guests remember the names of both the owners. And is is harder to believe that the majority mentions their names in the reviews. That is not standard or usual in reviews. Some reviewers write several reviews at same date, using same name but from a different country. Reviews at booking dot com are highly represented by guests from Belgium, the country where the owners planted their roots. Admitted, the percentage of guests arriving from their own country will be higher. But this is the category 'hard to believe'. Beside that, in an average of over 30 reviews since the start, it is most unlikely that no mistakes were made resulting in a lower review score occasionally. Again, hard to believe. For me, this seems a start up where reviews are bought or people (family and friends) help a little boosting the place. I think it is not allowed and I know that, for example, booking dot com checked this in the past. Did they stop checking on real reliable reviews? Is only a completed booking a reason for acceptance? I was there and will write my review using my artist's name 😉. And yes Bart, I was there. People have to remember you, you do not remember them? You use my review for making an extra advertisement on Google, which is a little sad.
The owners are nice people and are new in the active branch. Probably more experienced in organising, what seems to go real smoothly. The location is great and I think it will be greater in winter season. However, the place is a little desolate and no restaurant to be found with 10 miles. It is a few miles from the village, where you can visit a local supermarket and a coffee shop, although it is almost never opened. It is called something like 'corner' when I translate. The accommodation is nice, but the price does not reflect the expected quality. What is offered is not enough seen the room rate. Standard is not high, just average. Beside that, there are rooms with a shared bath room too, which makes this more a B&B than a hotel, certainly not a boutique hotel. Food is good. But too expensive, even for Norwegian standards. Because no restaurants are close by, there seems to be one in a village at 10 miles and more in Trysil at 16 miles, you have not much choice dininin Ljordalen. Service is as to be expected in hospitality. Welcoming and caring.

Read moreThis small but incredible family run hotel was the best accommodation choice. It’s truly a hidden gem in the valley close to the national park of Fulufjället. Villa Fregn is a perfect getaway to come down and relax.
We had the best hospitality and food experience while staying in their privat cabin!
Also I was very pleased to find out that most of their ingredients are locally sourced and you can definitely taste the quality difference. The honey was so flavourful as well as the cured meat. The mixed breakfast was well balanced and I was happy that they had a coconut yoghurt option since I’m lactose intolerant. Also heads up for the most delicious fruit salad I ever had in Europe ( nothing beats natural sweetness ). Ellen’s baking skills are mouth watering, the blueberry pastry was just perfectly soft and delicious. Since they are trying to be zero waste, they give you the opportunity to take your leftover food for your hiking plans or when you’re back on travelling which I really like.
They also have a super beautiful sauna and jacuzzi with a relaxing view on the river :) Since this place is very much located in nature you can get overwhelmed by all the stars on a clear night.
In the bathroom they offer some very nice organic shower, hair products and body lotion handmade in Norway. The smell is very nice and the conditioner and body balm left my body well nourished and soft. It’s possible to purchase these products directly from them ( which I did 😅 products varies around 500nok )
The bunk beds might be a tiny little small but my partner is also quite tall ( 1,90m), for me ( 1,68m) it was okay. The bed linen was very comfortable and I slept so well. The cabin we stayed in was rustic and super cozy. It has a fantastic big couch and it would be a great place to eat with a group. We were only two people with our dog but the cabin is well suited for bigger groups or a bigger family :) We enjoyed the amount of space there and it looks much better in real life than on the pictures !
Highly recommended and would def come back here again since the amount of hiking trails and nature is just breath taking. At Villa Fregn you can really feel that they value you as a guest and make your stay as pleasant as possible.
I cannot wait to stay there for a...
Read moreBart and Ellen created a little piece of heaven, surrounded by the most astonishing views on the river side the forests. The warm hospitality, the personalized approach, the willingness to help you discover the surroundings, the freshness and amazing taste of the food makes this an amazing place. You feel at home while probably you have never been further away for civilization. They offer so many activities that you can both enjoy winter or summer/spring activities. In our case, we came in August. Keep that unique warmth and generosity alive, because it is your...
