The place was really easy to get to. The staff was nice and welcoming at reception. I was there for a conference so the hotel room was booked by the hosts but the checking was still really efficient. The room was nice and of a good size. The tv had several channels and there was always something to watch. The rooms were a bit dark but hey, i was not there to hang out in my room. The bed was big a comfy. The lobby area was very nice with lots of scandinavian design furniture and lighting. The only reason i give this hotel a 3 star and not a 4 or 5 is because of the HORRIBLE food. The conference rooms were good, there was a snack bar/area right outside with a sundae and popcorn machine, they had coffee and tea out, cakes, fruit and veg, those vegan raw energy balls, and that was really sweet and cool. I felt like they had that to try and shadow over the awful food. There was a buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There was also a dinner meny. Our hosts had ordered us 3 course dinner friday and saturday and it was ridiculously awful. The first course/appetizer was some sad prawn covered in what tasted like cheap pesto from a jar. Mostly it tasted just salty and looked so unappetizing. Second course was deer with red wine sauce and it honestly tasted like that deer had been frozen for way too long and even if it looked good and was nice and red on the inside. it was a bit tough but mostly tasted mealy so that was unpleasant. The dessert was some sort of mousse/panacotta/passionfruit/sponge cake cake. It looked and tasted EXACTLY like the cakes you get on an airplane... the day after we got what was supposed to be clams with vanilla bean on a citrus salad. that was both sad looking and disgusting. AGAIN, this tasted like it was just defrosted. The clams were a pale white like they hadn't been cooked but they were but they had a gummy and thawed taste. i only think two people at my table managed to eat that. first course was ok, it was duck in a sauce so hard to mess up. dessert was forgettable but those who had vegan/vegetarian option got a nice chocolate cake. Now i'll get to the vegetarian dinners. I was horrified how terrible the alternatives were. When we got deer, the most creative solution for the vegetarians were a cooked half zucchini with some chopped red and yellow peppers on top... it looked so sad and bland. The duck alternative was some sort of pre-made cheap fake meat breaded nuggets!!! i kid you not! i wish i had take pictures and none of the non meat eaters finished them. they came straight out of the box in the freezer. Some of them even said that they could tell exactly what brand it was by taste. The buffet items were ok. scrambled eggs were way over salted, some of the food was either bland or didn't tasted fresh, a lot of the food again tasted like they had been frozen. There were pancakes and waffles but they were so dry they were hard to swallow. it was absolutely one of the worst food experiences i've had at a hotel. i get that it's a airport hotel but come on. it was way below par. lastly, they had a bar with two arcade games and a shuffleboard. The lighting was poor and it wasn't really nice. If you happened to sit under a light spot you'd cook. They should have chosen different lighting. the bartender was really really nice and was efficient! he kinda made up for the rest of the...
Read moreYeah, I will not be staying here again. I wish I’d booked elsewhere. Really disappointing because we stayed at amazing Quality hotels elsewhere (Edvard Grieg in Bergen and Hasle Linie closer to Oslo city center).
I was a bit confused because when I booked the room, there was a note about it being newly renovated and reviews showed nice, modern looking rooms. The room we were in did NOT look newly anything, other than the floor in the bathroom being newly flooded after we used the bathtub. Our room looked very dated and dingy with handprints on the lampshade by the window. Also, our room only had blackout curtains with no sheer curtains behind them. Our only option was to close the curtains and have no natural light or leave the curtains open so that anyone outside could look up and see into the room.
The room was decent sized with room for suitcases and shelves for backpacks, etc.. Comfy beds with 2 pillows each. Breakfast was buffet style with a great assortment of foods so that even picky eaters had something to eat. Our room had a window that opened, so we enjoyed the fresh air during our stay until smokers under our window polluted it and we had to close the window to keep the stink of cigarettes out of the room. No shops in the immediate vicinity; to get to shops it’s about a mile hike across the highway. Very convenient to the airport via the S22 Flybussen (about 10 minutes ride) and you can buy a ticket on the bus if you don’t have the VY app.
*The tub drain is weird. It flows from under the tub to a drain in the floor. My kid took a bath, left clothes on the floor, pulled the plug to drain the water and the whole floor of the bathroom (including everything on the floor) became inundated with bath water. We had to pack wet clothes in the suitcase for our...
Read moreNo kettle or nice view unless you upgrade your room. Our window view was a wall, which is sad considering the hotel is surrounded by forest and it was mostly empty when we stayed. No minibar.
Also, parking is needlessly expensive here. There is a lot of space.
Breakfast was disappointing. Very few vegetables, cheese was sweaty, yogurt was spoiled. Kitchen staff should check the buffet temperature and/or use better quality foods. The buffet dining room chairs were filthy. However, the hard boiled eggs were good.
The plastic flowers at the entrance were faded and dusty. There was some dirt in the lobby but the sitting groups were well designed.
The rubber seal on the door of our room was unattached and flopping around and the leather pillow on the sofa was stained. I liked the hardwood floors in the room and the bathroom was adequate.
Overall, there are better and cleaner hotels in the same area for...
