What an amazing place and a unique experience. We are in our 50's in moderate shape. The hike up was a workout for sure. A lot of the rocks move under your feet. We brought an over the shoulder waterproof bag for clothing and a backpack up with camera gear along with dinner for the evening. It took less than 30 minutes to get to Oak but we worked up a sweat. When we made it to Oak we didn't instantly see the key box as we thought it would be on the door handle. It's on a tree and we were very happy that we didn't have to go all the way back down to try to find a key. The place is clean, modern and comfortable. The shower has instant hot water and the tub fills from the bottom up which was a cool feature. The best part was waking up to sunrise and all you can see is a mountain, tree tops and some fog. So relaxing and romantic.|We opted for the food platter and it was excellent and nice to have along with the food we brought. The bed was super comfortable.|People complain about the factory down below. You don't see it from Oak and it really wasn't horrible to see anyway. I would not let the negative reviews about the factory stop you from staying in this amazing place. |Parking was easy to find and communication before the stay were just as one would expect. Great communication. We would stay here again...
Read moreIt wouldn’t be fair to rate this stay less than a 5 but there were some issues. If you stay in Banksia you will experience hell getting up to it. The trek up there is horrible. When we arrived there was heavy rain and it was dark. You might think it adds to the experience but it doesn’t. The garage where you park for Banksia is so badly situated that they need an immediate rethink for access. |I’ve read reviews regarding the light that comes from the island from the chemical plant and they’re true. The owner seems to think that it’s ok and that they don’t need to address it but the reality is that it is too bright and affects sleeping. At least there should be an option to darken out the light by simply placing some blinds just to have the option. |I live this place and wasn’t bothered by the factory but the light was too much. The surroundings are amazing and the views are beautiful. The nest is amazing and well stocked with all you need to keep you comfortable. |I have lots of friends who’d like to visit and I will recommend they do but will also advise them...
Read moreMy husband and I spent three nights in the highest treehouse, and it was amazing! The hike up is a bit challenging BUT we took our time and rested along the way, and we are "flat landers from the US" in our early 60's. It was part of the adventure!|We packed very light - just backpacks and two small bags of food.|The treehouse was amazing - it was laid out beautifully, comfortable and very functional. Coffee and tea were provided, along with salt, pepper, and cooking oil. The wifi was great. |At night the view was beautiful. Some people complain about the factory, but to us it just looked like part of the town, and the lights at night were pretty. One night we saw the northern lights right from our bed. |We hiked around the woods up top, and we hiked down and back up again during our stay, and it was a workout but felt good. |We met our hosts on our initial hike up and they were so kind and friendly. We loved our stay...
