Because of the very limited options in Ibri for hotels this one is about the only option , the other hotel is much worse. The one saving grace of this hotel is it sells a good selection of cheap beer , about $4 a large can . So because of that I was happy and was able to overlook several things that would normally annoy me. ||The entrance is grand and has nice polished marble tiles on the floor ,with a grande staircase . Everything else is below basic. ||The management and owners need to wake up and make some major improvements if they want to give some customer satisfaction. ||The first funny thing was when I arrived . I approached the delightfully professional and extremely polite receptionist from Bangladesh who told me the room rate was 35 OR.... I mentioned that I had seen it online for 28 OR will he be able to match that ? ||This was the answer ...NO ... ||I do not understand , I can book it online for 28 OR and you will still have to pay 15% commission ... Take my money direct and you pay no commission ??? !!! That is the way management want it , the receptionist said ...OKEYDOKEY ..... I went back into the carpark called my daughter , she booked the room online for us in two minutes , we checked in , this does not include breakfast we were politely informed ( maybe it was 3.5 OR for the breakfast ??? no it was not ! Anyway , as I said the beer was excellent !||The room was spacious , the beds were a little hard but clean . The place lacked a sensible woman's touch , in that no one noticed the bath was very brown , and the shower curtains really dirty ,due to the tainted water perhaps , a bit of cream bleach cleanser with a cloth will get rid of it , the product to use is called GUMPTION , amazing stuff . The beds had no valance so it looked very amateurish , the light shades on both bedside lamps were so torn , tatty and sad I feel inclined to send the owner some new ones .The shower curtains needed a good bleach soak as well. We got a good night's sleep after the loud punch up in the hall was over , as I mentioned the beer was nice and cold and good!, and declined breakfast the following morning and went on our merry way. ||Not after telling the lovely receptionist ( same one ) that there was a real fight down the hallway involving 4 or 5 Emirati men who were drunk at 1 am in the morning , no doubt on the lovely chilled cheap beer in the bar. He was apologetic for our loss of sleep . ||So good points , nice receptionist who's hands are tied and really cannot do much about anything . The nice cheap chilled beer , i think I mentioned that already . ||Its a place that has good potential with a change of management / ownership . Some money needs to be spent here , hiring of someone who knows how to clean rooms properly would be a good start , then there are the maintenance issues and some re-education on good management practices. ||It is a shame that Oman has such a lack of properly run hotels in the country . With the amount of promotion the ministry of tourism is doing in Europe and the numbers of tourists visiting the country , it would be of benefit to everyone if hotel owners could get on board with doing a better job and being...
Read moreI didn't like the hotel... Asked for king-size bed gave twin bed saying will change the room when the room will be vaccant by afternoon. They didn't revert back, when asked they said the rooms have all gone( They forgot about our request) Told them to make the twin beds together at least, they said the beds are immovable (The bed was not heavy, we itself moved it together which they should have done) We insisted for king size since was pregnant and had an infant with me, it would be difficult for us.... am frequent traveler hence have stayed at many 3 star hotels in interior regions of Oman which were reasonably priced with good service... Ibri oasis is a two star hotel but insanely priced with poor service... No breakfast is provided . The restaurant menu is fine but expensive.... Kettle and tea bags provided only on demand.... wifi is slow..Only plus point it's clean.. Overall I am disappointed, hoping to find any changes in service in the future if ever I...
Read moreThe Ibri Oasis Hotel has certainly seen better times. It looks like they ran out of money after constructing the lobby and the marble staircase. Rooms are spacious, but quite basic and dated. The mattresses are rock hard and uncomfortable and the WiFi was not working the entire time. After telling the reception about the WiFi problem they sent a technician who was unable to fix the problem.||||The hotel restaurant was also the worst I’ve visited during my stay in Oman. I had a steak with vegetables. The steak was really tough and the vegetables clearly frozen ones and not fresh.||||Overall the room rates are definitely overpriced in relation to the standard of the hotel. But I guess the lack of alternatives in Ibri drives...
