Hamood desert local camp — Hotel in Ash Sharqiyah North Governorate

Our experience at Dune Sands Private camp was beyond our expectation. Not only the accommodation was stunning with a magnificent view over the dune sands but Hamoud our host, was an excellent one with a great sense of humour and speak very good English so no barrier language. He is an example of the excellency of what Omani hospitality is. They will escort you either to bring you to the camp with their car or will guide you so don’t worry! We were welcomed with a delicious tea and dates with 2 of his children who were very welcoming and warm. They also helped us with our car which was stuck in the sand. Hamoud was very eager to suggest activities including trips to visit the sands with his car, meeting with the bedouins, and also taking the time during the tour to explain how the water and electricity system work. Hamoud is also an excellent guide for taking pictures and know the best spot. He is also an excellent cook. We have tried so good Omani food, and even if you don’t eat meat, the vegetarian option was scrumptious! If you want to experience a real authentic camp, chose this one as you will live a real experience with local. The evening terminâtes by a fire camp where Hamoud discuss with you about Omani culture and we even got the chance to talk about the beautiful stars in the Sky. My only regret is not being able to stay longer as it is surely the best place to relax and enjoy the silence of the place. Looking for an unforgettable...

We had an amazing time at the dunes desert camp! Rashid was just WONDERFUL the entire time we were there, very attentive and so kind and hospitable. He met us with his 4*4 to take us to our desert camp ( 20 min from the city). We were welcomed by delicious Omani tea and treats, on the house! Rashid knows when to give you space to do your own thing, he is not pushy and just is there whenever you need him, he really respects his guests privacy. We really loved that about him. We loved also Rashid story telling around the campfire. It made our night so unique, it felt like the 1000 nights in the fairytale! And the dinner is a most try, cooked by a talented chef at the camp! Breakfast with the Oman karak tea and a delicious variety of breakfast was suggested. The whole experience was so authentic as the decoration and tents were reflecting the real omani tradition. The two tents are suspended from the ground which make it even more unique and give you a beautiful view on the dunes!

It’s a new Camp that is definitely making its way to the top, 5 stars for the service from beginning to end! The Camp also was following all the Covid19 safety measures and the tents were sooo clean and tidy. Plenty of soap and water available and everything is sanitized! We have just spend a night at the Dune Sands Private Camp and we had the most unique, amazing and authentic experience! We highly recommend it to anyone visiting Oman!|Rashid, the owner and host came to pick us up at a parking and drove us through the dunes to the private camp. There we found four lovely and well equipped tents with the luxury of each having its own little “bathroom” (a desert bathroom of course but having your own is luxury in the desert !). Rashid and his colleagues made us discover the joy of driving in the dunes. They are all really good drivers and safe! It’s really worth the ride ! They took us in the middle of no where to enjoy the most beautiful sunset! We then had a good time with Rashid and other guests around a lovely fire camp before having a really delicious diner (buffet) carefully prepared by Selim who is a great cook !! In the morning we enjoyed the sunrise from the top of the dune and then enjoyed a nice breakfast (again prepared by Selim). All through, Rashid was so welcoming, warm, with a contagious happy mood and was happy to share with us his culture and get to know ours, it was a great moment of human experience!|We hope to visit again in the future and definitely recommend this...
