Oriental Nights Rest House — Hotel in Ash Sharqiyah North Governorate

Before we booked our hotel stay, we had corresponded months in advance with the Manager/Owner over WhatsApp. He had helped us with precise directions and answered all our queries happily.||||The day we arrived, they were surprised to find us there. It looked like we might have been the only guests there. But that didn't affect the service one bit. We were greeted by the owner couple who were themselves visiting from Muscat. We were introduced to Mr. Gopal, the cook, who took excellent care of our pure veg Indian food needs. The owner also helped organise 2 drivers for us - one for our excursion to the nearby Wadi Bani Khalid... and the other for the sunrise view at Wahiba Sands. Both the drivers were polite, charged reasonable and felt safe.||||The hotel itself looked like a vast property, parts of it still getting developed. There's a whole lounge area done up in traditional Omani style, with lowlevel plush seating, coffee table with a thermos of hot coffee, some dates and a water bowl. The outdoors have ample visitor parking, children's play area, a garden with aloes, date trees and some more vegetation. There also seemed to be some kind of outdoor party area for family functions or such.||||It was nice to come out in the night to gaze at the moon, the stars and what appeared to be a part of the galaxy. ||||The outdoors were also fitted with sensor-lighting which i appreciated.||||Our room was spacious for 2 people, the bathroom large with a tub. After we came back from Wadi Bani Khalid, we enjoyed a good soak time in the tub :)||||The food was delicious for all our meals. We were free to choose from the fruits Gopal ji generously offered. He also made awesome espresso and cold coffee for us. We weren't given an itemised bill though, it was a blanket charge of 7 OMR for 2 people.||||We wish we had a longer stay here. If you are planning to visit Al Asharqiyah Sands and Wadi Bani Khalid like us, this is your place to sleep the night off.||||For directions - go off the exit 159 on Muscat-Sur highway. We came via Mwasalat Bus and our driver already knew the hotel, so he dropped us precisely there. Another landmark to confirm the location is the Maha Petrol Pump located at exit 159. I chose this as the place to stay the first night on a loop trip from Muscat down to Sur and then up again toward Nizwa. It seemed to be located far enough from Sur to save me some good travel time on Day 2, but not too far to make Day 1 too long. I could have traveled another hour or two northward, but that is with hindsight. The room was clean and nice. The bed was comfortable. The a/c worked well. There is a hot water heater in the bathroom; just remember to turn on the power switch for it. I slept well without having to use earplugs. The owner was very generous by giving me 4 bottles of water when I asked if I could buy some. He and his family were eating in the restaurant, and the food smelled very good (although I did not eat there myself). The biggest problem is that the property essentially does NOT have WiFi. They have some kind of WiFi service, but it works only in the lobby, and it really doesn’t work well enough there to fool with trying to use it. It connects, but seconds later disconnects, and it repeats that over and over and over. I really needed to deal with some travel plans for Friday, but it was impossible. Part of the problem may have been that as soon as they connected the WiFi for me, two of the employees were there using their phones, so it was a bad connection that was then being shared by 3 of us with the employees taking up bandwidth that meant I, as a guest, could do nothing. I gave up and told them that if it doesn’t stay connected, they might as well not say...

Oriental Night Rest House 🏠, was far beyond our expectations...

The 5 ⭐ ranking is too less for the fabulous place... It was an home away from home experience...

We were looking for a decent family stay overnight and this was suiting our budget....

The moment we stepped in we were taken to another world full of peace and calmness....

The place is cozy, comfortable, clean, peaceful, well maintained...

Mr. Mohammed, the owner was very hospitable....

The rooms were clean, spacious, and well maintained....

The place has a small kids play area, well maintained area with sitting arrangements for outdoor cooking and barbeque..

The fruits and vege plantation, for which Mr. Mohammed is very protective....😂🤣

Have a restaurant, good food...
