Read moreJust 103 miles from Shigar is a Scenic drive on soft winding roads along the Mighty river Indus and subsequently river Shyok the quaint hamlet of Khaplu🏡 It is the Capital of the Ghanche District of GB☺. My first Impression of entering the Khaplu Palace Hotel was reminiscent of a Moroccan Riad! We were welcomed by Fresh Apricot juice (Chamuss) and nuts, by the amiable staff. The Khaplu Palace engulfs you into its own immediately..it has that inherent quality😊 My room 101 I shall probably never vacate..as it felt it was always only mine! With window sills and a door leading into an Enchanting Apple, Apricot,Cherry & Plum Orchard! Blooming healthy flowers and large bees such a Heavenly sight! The tradional resting sofa/divan adds to the relaxation par excellence. The 5 star comfort of the rooms is exemplary considering Khaplu Palace is technically in a village! Full marks to the Efficient & well trained staff who produced 5 star quality food and delectable local dishes like Fasanjoon and mouthwatering soups made with the freshest ingredients. My favourite was the Arzuq..a Balti version of a donut! This is indeed God's Own Country with so much History to be Proud of and the Highest Mountains around. The Palace of Khaplu is so well preserved with the collaboration of Norway that it's life has probably been enhanced for another 800 years! It's a Magical labyrinth of curious architecture and intricate carvings. I was wondering if an outsider came in he would probably never find his way out!..perhaps the intention of the inmates! The Rani's room is A Must See..it has been modernised while keeping it's history in tact..how wondrous would it be if the walls could talk and tell us tales of aeons past! Khaplu is A picturesque place with a vastness that's Surreal. There is so much to do here, like hiking on tracks that lead to Buddhist remains to fishing your own trout at the picturesque trout farm and dipping your feet in the freezing Shyok river! All other excursions are minimum 3 -4 hours away! Half an hour away on a good road is a mini Deosai called Hanjor Broq with lush Pastures and wheat fields. The Ancient Chaqchan mosque is a gem worth seeing..it's in the midst of the hamlet where you walk past waving smiling angelic children and everyone greets you on the way..so warm. I would like to give a Special mention to the GM of the Khaplu Palace hotel who is so hands on & sees to the Impeccable service with his endearing persona. Happy Holidaying in Beautiful...
Read moreWent to see the room on the 24 .05.2023.we were two couples with 2 infants. Got to the serenas khaplu for the booking of either 2 rooms or 1 big room with 2 double beds if offered.went to reception. A young man first gave me a strange look and then took me to a double room.i politely asked him to show me the other room and he flatly refused me by saying that there isn't any point in looking at the other room as both rooms are the same .Never for a second, I felt welcome ,nor greeted. He probably thought that there wasn't any way I could afford those, and when we get back ,he had someone there and inspite of his other colleagues standing there,he got engaged with that foreign potential guest.
Never have I ever felt so bad and pathetic. What a filthy service, the rooms are OK and the ambience was not bad also but 26000pkr/night for a double bed with such low and poor standards of service are mind-boggling.ive had much better experience in staying at travel lodges.what a waste of that location that was.
I humbly suggest the owners or the management of the khaplu Serena Hotel to properly train their staff to be more empathetic and kind towards their guests.who are are paying much more than their salaries. If you're asking for such top bucks, then start providing such service to your guests aswell.Poor guys thought that I am a local tourist and wouldn't be able to afford it. What a jackAzz.anyway. I got the room next door at the same location. Yes, not as posh as Serena for 6000pkr/night and 2hat a great service I received .Value for money 'Royal Cottage' was the name...
