The Hunza Eagle's Nest Hotel is situated on the top of Hunza Valley at the best view point of Duikar Village. The Hotel is maximum 20 minutes drive away from Karimabad town. A 6 kilometers metal road leads from Karimabad town to the Hotel's parking. Hunza Eagle's Nest offers the World's only view point that offers spectacular views 11 peaks, all 6,000 - 7,788 Meters high. The most famous are Rakaposhi, Ultar Peak, Golden Peak, Diran Peak & Lady Finger. The hotel has 30 fully furnished rooms, 2 restaurants, a lobby, an open terrace built on a rock, a fruit garden & a traditional Hunza House. A unique feature of the hotel is that you can have the view of whole Hunza valley and surrounding peaks from any room or restaurants. Starting as a small camping site in 1994, Eagle’s Nest has grown into a full service hotel. The friendly family-run hotel offers accommodation to suit every budget. The personal hospitality and personal touch which you find every room service, food and garden is unique, and has made many guests wanting to prolong their stay.

Stayed in the Executive Block in 2021 and returned this July for 4 nights - Eagles Nest hotel will always be home!! The views are unmatched, rooms are clean, cozy, and newly renovated, and the staff is incredibly courteous, reflecting true Hunza hospitality. Breakfast is simple but quite delicious, and the fresh cherries from their trees are the real highlight. The owner personally greets and checks in with guests every morning, and has vast knowledge of hunza and its majestic peaks. What stands out most is their support for the local community, especially women, through jobs, training, and great staff accommodation. Even drivers accompanying guests are treated with utmost respect. If you want to experience real Hunza hospitality and support local tourism, this is the place to stay.

I booked Eaglenest directly calling them on phone for 4 nights. Needed transport from Skardu airport as I was spending 2 nights in Skardu first. Eaglenest highly recommended Shujoo( or Shujaat) Shigri car rental. Shujoo called me in 2 minutes and assured me of best services both as a driver and guide. A Parado was booked for 7 days which was expensive. He was available on my day of arrival, showed me around and introduced to his son-in-law, Nadeem who was taking over for the next 6 days. The first 2 days with Nadeem went well. On my 4th day, 9th April which was 3rd day with Nadeem, when we were in Hunza, he strongly suggested that I check out from Eaglenest and move to a Karimabad hotel and he would get it for a much lower price. I refused as I loved Eaglenest. He grumbled as he was finding it hard to drive to the highest point. Eaglenest was providing him accomodation, breakfast and dinner free of charge. My 5th day but 4th with Nadeem, initially went well but I noticed that he started refusing to accompany me to places which was his job. I slipped on the slippery way to Hussaini Bridge. He did not take me to Boorath lake as advised by th hotel, saying there is too much climbing which was not true. He then started insisting that I should move tomorrow evening, 11th April to Gilgit as I would not be able to catch my flight to Islamabad on 12th as it takes nearly 5 hours to get to Gilgit airport from Eaglenest. He also pressurised me to leave early when at Attabad Lake as he wanted to pray Maghrib in the hotel. I could not go for boating and returned to hotel. I learned from one of the owners at the front desk that the journey is hardly 2 hours to the airport and I can easily leave at 8 am or even later for my flight at 12.55 pm on 12th and there was no need to spend a night in Gilgit. I requested the owner to speak to Nadeem as hotel had recommended this transport and Nadeem was insisting that it was 5 hours drive. I also mentioned his refusal to accompany me to some places. Nadeem got very annoyed and started lying. Next morning, 11 th April, I felt unsafe to travel with him. I also learned from Mr Ali Puno that Nadeem had never been to Hunza before. I requested Mr Puno earnestly to give me another driver and I would put up with extra cost. Unfortunately he did not take it seriously as Nadeem had apologised to him. I was not at all comfortable but due to Mr Puno's massive reassurance and given no choice, I continued with Nadeem. I noticed throughout in Hunza that he was asking ways from others and was busy having his photographs taken. Last day 12th April was a nightmare. We left at 8 am for the airport from Eaglenest. He had planned it well as the moment we came down on the road to Gilgit, he started hurling verbal abuse at me, calling me psycho, mean, many other bad and all sorts of ugly words which was very scary. I called Mr Puno who asked mevto put Nadeem on line. Nadeem got very angry his eyes were bulging. I was scared that he might throw my phone out of the window or start hitting me as I always travel on the front seat next to the driver due to my bad back. Moreover he would have lied to him that he was behaving well. I was helpless, vulnerable and unsafe. He looked like a mad dog. He kept shouting that I would never make it for my flight as it takes more than 4 hours. This caused me tremendous stress and I was praying that I get to the sieport on time. He was deliberately driving slowly snd answering long calls which is not allowed while driving. In spite of all this, I was near the airport at 10 am though he stopped twice asking way to the airport. He dumped my suit cases outside the airport, grabbed the whole payment from me and dashed off without waiting for my flight to take off. I was scared and in great distress at my insult and his verbal abuse. I was shaking and crying. I dragged my suitcases to the airport and learned at 11.30am that flight to ISB was cancelled. He was paid 7000 for the whole day of 12th April but had left at 10am.||With great difficulty I organized another car for travelling to ISB at 1pm which took 14 hours to reach ISB at 3 am. This car was shared with 2 other travellers including another female with her nephew, and I felt safe.||I strongly advise single female travellers to Hunza and Skardu ' NEVER travel alone with a driver' if they wish to travel in dignity. Note the names Shujoo Shigri and Nadeem. Avoid them. No single women is safe whether young or old travelling with a male driver.||I have travelled alone with male drivers in India, Karachi, Lahore, dangerous South Africa and many other countries but never had such a nasty experience. I am still suffering from nightmares.||Eaglenest is a wonderful hotel. They gave me some discount too though I never asked for it. The entire staff and owners are very helpful and polite and I highly recommend it but please don't book transport through them. My trip was ruined by the transport recommended by them. ||I am full of praises for Eaglenest and can only wish that they had changed my driver and had taken my complaint seriously. My life was put in danger.||I am told that they will never use Shujoo but can it remove the anguish, horrible memories, emotional scaring and insult I suffered?||It is worth mentioning that Nadeem started asking me very personsl questions from the 3rd day onward including my age but avoided answering. He was playing romantic Indian songs for hours and I had to request him repeatedly to stop it. This annoyed him. I still can't understand why he wanted me to check out a day earlier from Eaglenest and spend the last night in Gilgit. I am scared and God alone knows his motives.||Please, ladies don't travel alone with a male driver in Hunza and Skardu. The telephone signals are very bad and in an emergency situation you might not get help on time. Scarry!! Stay away from Skardu and Hunza unless you are travelling...

It is an excellent hotel with beautiful views, very helpful and polite staff, in particular Farha, Shahid, Basit and Sunail, but my trip was badly affected due to the transport highly recommended by this hotel, called Shujoo Shigri Car rental. Both my life and honour were put in danger. I was travelling alone in Parado with driver Nadeem. On the second day in Hunza he was strongly suggesting to change the hotel as he would get me a much cheaper place but I refused. He started misbehaving on 3rd day in Hunza. He was asking me personal questions and started playing romantic Indian songs and got angry when asked to stop. He didn't stop at Borath lake, refused to accompany me when going to Hussaini bridge and I slipped there. That day he also insisted that I must stay overnight in Gilgit on 11th April for my flight at 12.55pm on 12th as the drive was 5 hours. I was shocked to learn from the front desk that it is less than 2 hours drive to Gilgit airport. I had to request Mr Ali Madad to speak to the driver and informed him that he was misbehaving. Mr Ali Madad kindly did so. I asked Mr Puno, transport in charge, to give me a new driver and I would put up with extra cost, but he gave me massive assurance that the driver was very sorry and had apologised. I was given no choice. The very moment that the car came down from the hotel to the road for Gilgit airport on 12th, he started hurling very strong and vulgar abuse calling me very bad names. He got me very nervous insisting that it is 5 hours drive to reach the airport. I called Mr Puno who asked me to put Nadeem on the phone. He got extremely angry and I was scared that he would throw my phone out of the window and start beating me. I never felt so insecure and unsafe in my life. I was trembling. He kept shouting and I had to put fingers in my ears. He was deliberately driving slowly and making long phone calls which are not allowed while driving. He stopped twice to ask about the way. We were outside Gilgit airport at 10 am. So it took only 2 hours in spite of his slow driving, shouting and phone calls. He was not at all remorse or ashamed about lying to me. He immediately dumped my suitcases, grabbed the money and left in a hurry though he was paid 7000 for the whole day of 12th April. I dragged my suitcases as he dropped me a bit far away. I burst into tears and felt extremely distressed. At 11.30am, I heard the announcement about flight cancellation. I knew that at times flights are cancelled for days. I was frightened to stay in an unknown place having had a nasty and disgraceful experience with the driver. With the help of PIA ground staff who saw me in great distress, a car was arranged to drive me to Islamabad. I insisted that there should be a family or some female passengers at the back seat while I paid extra for the front seat. We left at 1pm and reached at 3am, after 14hours. I informed Mr. Puno by a message about Nadeem. He was supposed to wait till the flight had taken off. I later on learned from Mr Puno's message that they have strongly admonished Shujoo and would never recommend him to anyone but can it repair the psychological damage and insult inflicted by driver Nadeem? I am still getting nightmares. Why my complaint was not taken seriously and a new driver was arranged as I was willing to pay extra and could afford it? My whole trip was ruined. I felt strongly today that I must put down my horrible experience and agony so other single ladies don't go through the same. I also wonder what was driver Nadeem's motive to put me up in a hotel on 11th April in Gilgit? I have travelled alone with drivers in Karachi, Lahore, Muree, India, dangerous South Africa and many other countries as travelling is my passion but I must say that it is highly unsafe for a lady , young or old, to travel alone in Baltistan. I advise all ladies travelling alone in Hunza, to only use drivers recommended by the friends and family and not by Eaglenest if they wish to travel in dignity though I really liked this hotel. DR. Shaheen, MBBS, FRC...
