We booked this resort because it was remote, beautiful and a green property. We reserved a "Honeymoon" bungalow over the water, one of 3 apparently. The room itself was wonderful, complete with a see through table in the living room open to the water and fish food to feed the fish below! The bed was comfy and romantic. The deck was spacious and swim ladder easy to use. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. You pick your breakfast choices the night before and we chose to have it delivered to our room each morning, everything was delicious. The small open air dining room was fun and cocktails delish, especially their Pina Colada. They had SUP and kayaks available no charge and snorkel gear also. We took two of their tours, both fun and educational, definitely recommend them. All the staff were wonderful and friendly, varying degrees of English spoken. That said you need to know this: The resort is located across the water, maybe a half mile, from a small town on the shore. Starting around 5-7 PM daily loud music came from someplace there, a club, disco, bar? As the evenings wore on the music from a major league sound system got progressively louder and kept up non-stop until about 4 AM each of the 5 nights we were there. I mean this was LOUD. This totally ruined our nights and sleep. Even noise cancelling earphones would not block it out. Sadly, this alone is reason not to book this place if you will be bothered and or are a light sleeper. We would not return because of the inability. It is a crying shame the otherwise outstanding property is impacted this way and the only reason for my "Poor" rating. Otherwise I would have rated them "Excellent". Note: it is "Possible" some of the other bungalows or rooms are less affected by the annoying music but I cannot imagine how any of them would be quiet given how loud the...

We just returned from 2 days at Eclypse de Mar. I made the booking thru the hotel and was suppose to pay upon arrival One month before our arrival date they put the full charge thru my credit card. I thought no big deal we’re going anyway but the next day they put an April/May 20% off sale on their site Guess they were afraid I’d cancel and rebook at the lower rate! Which I had every right to do That wasn’t very professional When I mentioned it at check in there was no comment So beware you never know when you will be charged ||We arrived and were lead to our room It was beautiful, spacious and right over the water |We ordered food and received our welcome drinks and took a swim off our steps It was wonderful We then had dinner at their restaurant which was also very good But now it’s 10 pm and 81 degrees There is a fan over the bed but when it’s that hot it doesn’t help Then it rained and what little breeze we had stopped We took cold showers and tried to sleep We could hear music in the distance til about 2am As our bungalow was facing the other way it wasn’t too bad but I can see how the music would disturb rooms on the other side The power is on from 6 pm until 9 am but you can’t use a hair dryer or straightener ||The next morning they served a wonderful breakfast in the room It was delicious and nicely presented We were gone all day and out to dinner elsewhere but once again it was 82 degrees at 10 pm and nearly impossible to sleep. ||We had 2 great days at Eclypse de Mar and 2 difficult nights We were there in April I heard other months are cooler at night Yes it was a wonderful experience but sleeping in 80...

I barely ever write reviews, good or bad. However, after seeing negative reviews, I had to post one. This place is amazing! This place is listed as a 3-star hotel and the negative reviews seem to be from entitled people who should have spent their money on a 5-star hotel. That being said, the over the water bungalows are beautiful and the rooms are very nice. There is no AC, true, but Wi-Fi seems just fine. The staff is friendly and the service is great. Breakfast delivered right to your room. Freddie was very accommodating and helpful. He booked me a tour right when I checked in to Zapatilla Island. The reserve behind is cool but the trails could use some upkeep. The location is beautiful and it only costs $2 to get to Old Bank and $5 to get to Colon. Old Bank is poor with lots of trash so expect that. Lysset’s is probably the best restaurant. You can hear the music across the bay but what do you expect? You’re in Latin America. On the Caribbean! It adds a bit of a soundtrack to the experience. This place is 5 star experience for the price of a 3 star. The best way for Old Bank to improve is for more tourists to visit and invest in it’s small economy.

Stayed for 4 days in January and it was AMAZING. This is by far one of the coolest places i've stayed at in the almost 30 countries i've traveled to!! The staff are incredibly warm and helpful. Great English, but willing to let you practice your Spanish too :) I stayed in the jungle treehouse and it was so amazing, waking up to the sounds of waves and birds, and the bonus little sloth who hung out right outside my shower window! They have kayaks, SUPs, and snorkel gear to rent. The water nearby was a little murky but great for exploring the mangroves. Very isolated feel on Bastimentos... but compared to the Old Bank area nearby (which i found to be sketchy and run down), you feel totally safe here. And the nature reserve they have is so cool!! I walked it alone every morning and evening with no problems. Added bonus, in late January, I didn't swat a single bug or mosquito... and I was walking barefoot and shirtless through the jungle!! Don't hesitate if you get the chance. If you love nature and solitude, come stay here 💚

An amazing oasis. The bungalows are beautiful with immediate access to the water, personal touches, great food, marine and wildlife nearby. The staff was great, some folks are straight to the point and offer a smile others are going above and beyond to provide everything you may want and need which is a great balance. The food was good although only breakfast is included in the cost. The food wasn’t expensive generally, pretty comparable to prices in the nearby town. Boat taxis to beaches and town are readily available.
