Pacific Bay Resort — Hotel in Boca Chica

A short water taxi ride from Boca Chica, Pacific Bay Resort is an absolutely beautiful and relaxing place to stay. We spent 4 nights there but would have been happy to stay longer than that! We were booked in the Chiriqui Cabana which overlooks the North Beach and were woken one morning by a group of at least 40 howlers (and some babies) passing right by. It's a steep walk up to the restaurant which we didn't mind but the owner, Frank, was more than happy to drive people who weren't up for the walks around the property in his golf cart. The three meals included each day were delicious and Frank paid attention to everyone's tastes. Elbia, Anna, and Karina who helped with cooking and serving were so friendly and helpful. Since we were lucky enough to be the only guests half of the time we were there and wanted to spend a couple of our days at the absolutely beautiful South Beach which we had all to ourselves (besides some capuchin monkeys), Frank delivered us lunches so we didn't have to walk back to the restaurant. BEST. DAY. EVER!!! Wow, what an amazing stay at Pacific Bay Resort. The short 20 minute boat ride from Boca Chica was a fun way to begin our adventure. Frank, the congenial owner, personally met us at the beach and whisked us to our private cabin overlooking the ocean. Our room and bath were spotlessly clean. Mattresses were very comfortable with crisp sheets and good pillows. No air conditioning but we were comfortable with the fan. We spent our first afternoon swimming in the crystal clear waters of South Beach which we had all to ourselves. We went to sleep listening to the howler monkeys. Lots of parrots and other tropical birds to see from our private terrace. It was paradise. We took all our meals at the open air restaurant. Food was plentiful and excellent. Hidden jewel!

Solitude, Nature, and excellent meals. Pacific bay resort is just what we needed, to detach, detox, and relax. Our adventure started with us taking our shoes off to wade onto the beach where the local water taxi had delivered us, and making an instant connection with our host Frank. We enjoyed the 150 acres of unspoiled jungle, surrounded by monkeys and wildlife, and sheltered in our private casita. Our casita was basic but comfortable, solar powered so no a/c but not needed with a small fan on when needed. Truly spectacular views of the bay and Boca Chica area. We had 3 beaches to choose from each day all to our selves. The meals were anything we requested and served anytime we chose. Our host Frank spent his whole career owning restaurants and clubs on the east coast, so the service and quality of the food was excellent, some of the best and freshest we have ever had.
