Bocas Bay Lodge — Hotel in Bocas del Toro

A piece of Paradise, in nature. The property was a stretch a jungle, between the road and the sea, before Isabelle and Joel turned it into the Garden of Eden over the last decade. You park you car past an unassuming wooden gate, and another gate opens to a private oasis of lush vegetation carefully curated and arranged around a couple of houses, a patio, and an infinity pool. The whole property leans towards the sea in a gentle slope, giving a view of the ocean and multiple islands. You won't see anything but water and vegetation. There is only one bungalow to rent, bedroom, bathroom, a living and an outdoor kitchen. Simple, but furnished and thoughtfully decorated with original pieces from the places where they lived before. But why would you use the kitchen, when Isabelle can cook and give you the most personalized and refined experience, using ingredients from their own garden, local seafood, and selected wines? A three courses menu served under a dedicated patio, facing the sea, and light music. The whole experience was completely unique and made us feel very special, with their undivided attention. My husband surprised me with a stay here after visiting many places throughout Panama. Joel and Isabelle (the owners) have transformed this piece of the jungle into a floral paradise. If you're familiar with the classic story of the "Swiss Family Robinson" then you can imagine a treehouse nestled in the jungle with everything you need and beauty all around. I was and am still amazed with Joel and Isabelle. Their accommodating abilities, the paradise they've built, their knowledge of the area and how they have truly built a sustainable environment. We ate breakfast and dinner each day and it's probably the first time in my life that I felt truly healthy. Everything she prepared was straight from the jungle, ocean or their own garden. Amazing how good you can feel when your body gets the nutrient it needs. They are both amazing people. Top Location! Leider waren wir nur sehr kurz bei Isabelle und Joel, es ist wirklich ein Garten Eden mit einem herrlichen Ausblick auf die Inseln von Bocas del Toro. Im Swimming Pool hat man das Gefühl mitten auf das Meer hinaus zu schwimmen, und der Pool-Bereich darf auch "ohne Kleidung" genutzt werden :-) Wir waren überwältigt von Lage, paradiesischem Garten und einer hervorragenden Bewirtung, Isabelle hat uns nach allen Regeln der Kunst kulinarisch verwöhnt. Wir sind nicht gerne abgereist, und vermissen Isabelle und Joel bereits jetzt. Ich möchte auf jeden Fall bald wiederkommen, und dann auf jeden Fall länger bleiben. Unfortunately we stayed with Isabelle and Joel only for a very short time, we found a Garden of Eden with a magnificent view over the islands of Bocas del Toro. In the swimming pool you have the feeling of swimming out to sea, and the pool area can also be used "without clothes" :-) We were overwhelmed by the location, a paradise garden and excellent hospitality, Isabelle treated us with culinary highlights. Malheureusement nous n’avons pas pu rester avec Isabelle et Joël longtemps, c’est vraiment un jardin d’Eden avec une vue magnifique sur les îles de Bocas del Toro. Dans la piscine, vous avez l’impression de nager envers la mer, et l’espace piscine peut également être utilisé « à poil » :-) Nous avons été submergés par l’emplacement, le jardin paradisiaque et l’excellente hospitalité, Isabelle nous a gâtés avec des délices culinaires.
