Our party of 4 stayed in two lodges for two nights at the first of January. What a fantastic experience. In reviewing options for a short stay in Bocos del Toro, it's hard to know what kind of accommodations to search for when you have never been there. The decision comes down to do you want to be near or in Bocos Town or on one of the islands at one of the bigger resorts. Or as El Toucan Loco turned out to be, a near magical location where you feel off like you have Bocos del Toro to yourself. The three floating lodges are definitely off the grid. To get to Bocos Town, you need to take a boat to get there. But Olivier is able to accommodate that if and when you need to go into town. When you stay here, you need to know to bring enough cash to pay the bill. This is not a surprise, upon booking, the hosts provide a detailed description of the accommodation and how to get there along with how payment is arranged. They also explain what meals cost if you choose to eat on property. Before you get there, you think you will want to go into town to a restaurant for a change of pace but for a short stay that would be a mistake because Sylvie who prepares the food is fantastic. She does magic with available ingredients. She also was able to accommodate one of our party who was a vegan. You are off the grid. But there is solar power and amazingly good WIFI. The shower is an outdoor shower but it feels great to shower outside. The magic of the place is the overwhelming ability to feel like you are disconnected and, in a world, far away from the hustle of Panama City or where ever you came from. We loved it. A special treat was on our last morning, Olivier took us across the bay and was able to locate three separate sloths who put on a show for us - the way only sloths can. It was a magical ending to our trip to Panama. We did eat lunch in Bocas because we went there so some of the other guests and one of our party could meet up with a dive master and go scuba diving. The rest of us went snorkeling and then Olivier dropped us off at a bar where we got lunch and drinks. After visiting Bocos, we were very glad we stayed at El Toucan Loco. One last story from our stay. One evening several of us wanted tea. Sylvie didn't have any normal tea, but she went out in the yard and cut some lemongrass and made true "yard to table" lemongrass tea. You don't get that at the local Marriot resort. I truly hope we find our way back one day.

Just like the pictures. And just like subscribe, just read before the description of the place, and you can find your little peace of paradise! Beautiful, quiet, clean three little floating bungalows. It is located in a small bay 40 min from Colon Island by boat. The only way to get there is by a boat and also no kitchen in the bungalow, Silvia and Oliver will take care of all your needs! Just chat with them on WhatsApp, and they will be happy to help, shuttle, cook, and dine with you. Enjoy an evening drink with them and the other guests on their beautiful terrace! There are kayaks, snorkeling equipment, and some nice floating mattresses for you to enjoy! We have been lucky enough to see sloths, dolphins, and beautiful star fishes on the bay! Silvia and Oliver are like your cool grandparents in Panama!

We spent 4 nights at the Toucan Loco in November 2023. It was an awesome experience living for a little bit floating on the water, totally off-grid. Our hosts, Sylvie and Olivier, were great and they did a great job making our accommodation cozy and exceptional. In the evenings we had some good life discussions, learning about each other's lives around a nice drink. The cooking they offer is practically all local or from their garden and is delicious. Their breakfast too is phenomenal. They kindly offered to let us use their kayaks and we explored the surrounding mangroves and lush shores. The nights are so quiet helping us fall asleep to the sounds of the rain and the forest. If you are looking for some quite relaxing moments this is the place for you. Merci beaucoup!

If I could I would give this place 12/10! Words really don't adequately describe the experience of staying at Toucan Loco. Tranquility ... beauty ... rest & relaxation & plenty to do (if you want it)!!! Olivier & Sylvie - owners and hosts - both go out of their way to make your stay perfect - from the immaculately clean & beautifully furnished rooms ... to the amenities they provide (dingies, kayaks, snorkel gear) to the beautiful grounds and food that will surprise and delight! Sylvie's cooking is creative & clever; she goes out of her way to incorporate locally grown fruits & veg in all her creations. If she happens to overhear that you particularly like something - you can be sure she'll find a way to make it for you. Olivier's knowledge of the area and his warm & friendly demeanor was so appreciated at all times but especially on the excursion to Zapatillas island that we enjoyed with the other guests at the lodge. The rooms are great! Perfectly clean, beautifully furnished & decorated - rustic yet very comfortable. Really enjoyed the outdoor shower & home-made soap. Their respect of the environment & nature was so appreciated & we were happy to do our part. The grounds are beautifully kept - you'll enjoy their pup Bria, their sheep and a few chickens milling about. Your meals are taken on their terrace - beautifully furnished with a wonderful array of artwork & crafts - where you're treated more like treasured friends than paying guests. The view from the terrace is their gorgeous gardens with the ocean and archipelego beyond. Simply stunning. This is an experience not to be missed and a memory that we will treasure! Merci beaucoup, Olivier...
