Monkey Tiny House — Hotel in Bocas del Toro

My husband and I travel a lot, and the Monkey Tiny House might be - hands down - the most beautiful and special place we have stayed so far. It offers the best of both worlds: the feeling to be completely alone and immersed in nature, as well as the comfort and amenities (bordering luxury!) of the modern world. Caroline really has thought of everything; although tiny, the house offers everything you need, from space to put and hang things over shower gel, shampoo and conditioner to conveniently placed lightings, pool towels etc.. Little framed info boards inform you about everything necessary, and with the help of the restaurant menus in the room you can easily order in (because, why leave this amazing place, ever?). The house doesn´t have A/C, but with the ceiling fan and of course the pool, which was surprisingly chilly (in the good way), we didn´t get too hot - and we visited during the most hot and humid time of the year. Besides the private pool, the shower with good water pressure and hot water, the amazingly comfy and big bed, and the delicious fresh breakfast served on your private terrace provided more luxury. Remember that you are in nature, and that some animals might visit you who also want a part of that luxury ;). Getting around on Colón can be a bit tricky - we tried bycicles (only recommendable for the physically VERY fit), taxis (expensive), the bus (cheap and easy, but unreliable and includes waiting time) as well as hitchhiking (worked good at times, at others not). Plan for that, and you will be fine! Caroline and her staff were always attentive and helpful, and very quick to respond to all our extra-requests. Caroline is a wonderful person and was genuinely excited and happy for us, too, when we told her about our adventures on the island(s). For all what the Monkey Tiny House offers, the price-performance-ratio is unbeatable. We can not recommend it enough and already dream of coming...

Le lieu est vraiment magnifique, la petite maison est très jolie, la terrasse avec piscine donne sur la jungle. Tout paraît paradisiaque.

En voyage en Amérique latine et de passage au Panama, nous avions fait un gros écart sur notre budget pour fêter l'anniversaire de ma conjointe dans un lieu spécial. Malheureusement, nous n'aurons finalement pas dormi dans ce logement, nous sommes partis le soir même de notre arrivée.

En effet, il faut savoir que le générateur d'électricité de toute la ville de Bocas est à proximité. Ce jour là, il était à son niveau maximum. Donc nous avions en continu un bruit d'essorage de machine à laver dans les oreilles, qui surpassait le bruit de la jungle. Nous qui comptions nous relaxer et nous ressourcer dans ce logement, c'était raté. Je ne sais pas non plus si nous aurions pu dormir avec ce bruit.

Caroline était bien au courant de l'existence et de la proximité de ce générateur. Elle nous a proposé de nous rembourser les 2 nuits, ce que nous avons accepté. En revanche, dans les 30 minutes qui ont suivies, Caroline a trouvé d'autres personnes à mettre dans le logement... Ce qui fait que nous avons quasiment été mis à la porte sans avoir pu appeler de taxi (les taxis recommandés par Caroline n'étant pas disponibles à ce moment là) et sans avoir eu bcp de temps pour chercher un autre logement. Nous sommes donc partis à pied avec tout notre équipement. L'impression d'être des squatteurs qu'on déloge, avec la sensation que notre perception du bruit était illégitime.

Le lieu est vraiment magnifique, mais nous imaginions vraiment une petite maison isolée du bruit de l'activité humaine, au calme dans la jungle (ce qui est mis en avant). En ce qui nous concerne, ce...

I had the pleasure of staying here for a weekend and it was amazing! The view from the porch and the pool is beautiful and you fully hear and experience nature which I love! The breakfast and service was great and you can see there is a lot of attention to details which made the whole stay more special. As a local living in Bocas I will absolutely use Monkey Tiny House as my getaway place to relax and reset! Definitely...
