I had a bad experience at this place and I am passionate about telling the facts.||||Firstly, this place is not a hostel, it's a hotel. The rooms are expensive and centered around the main building with two stories that charge USD 30-50. The dormitory is out the back and a crappy shack, well away from the toilets, dirty and run down and the worst dormitory I have every been in (I have stayed in over 100 around the world in all continents - big statement!)||||I was greeted by the mob of barking dogs that do not make you feel welcome. These are not appropriate animals to have in a hotel if they are going to be scared and bark at the clients. I took a swim in the pool and used the pool toys. The owner then came out and told me they were for kids and not to be used for adults. The owner then abused me for sitting upstairs in the 'hotel' area after being told I was allowed too by her colleague. The owner said she new the rules, implying I was lying. She made me go down stairs and sit with my computer because I was paying for the dorm. (The place was 25% full, no one was there and using the area anyway.) The next day she really got in my face and abused me again, and told me I had left the shower running and that 500 litres were lost and the other guests had no water, which was a lie. I turned the shower off but she was just saying crazy things and blaming me. She charges an extra 3 USD for the internet per device, which I payed for, and it stopped working, and she said she dinied it saying she didn't know about it. (Internet usage makes no difference to price and she is just stealing peoples money.) I was there for over a week and observed her getting into arguments with other guests...The place is in a state of disrepair with allot of things broken and not working. Really not a great environment as the website claims...||||Hostels are functional, clean, friendly and collaborate spaces with decent dormitories and services, with lovely animals that get allot of love from the guests. Not this place!||||This is a shame because the other people that work there where really nice (Kevin and his female worker), and made me feel welcome, and were just being barked at by the owner, like me, and her terrible dogs. Hostel Porto Lindo is closed so this is the only place in town, which allows the owner to get away with this. ||||Do not to stay here. Nevin at Panama Dive Centre is a lovely person and has two amazing rooms for the same price just down the road. Do yourself a favor and go there instead!||||Truly, Matt,...
Read moreI want to start out by saying that Pedro (Peter) and the rest of the staff were so friendly and kind. They are the reason for the 2 stars. They really deserve 5 stars for the hard work they put in for the absent hostess, Silvia.||Don't be fooled by the claims that this is in a 'nature lover's paradise'. There is no public beach access in Puerto Lindo. You must go quite far (walking on a highway with no shoulder) by foot unless you brought a car or can book one of the infrequent taxis to find any access to the ocean. ||Also don't be fooled by any of the messaging that Silvia might give about tings to do in the area. I told her before I booked through AirBnB that I was interested in fishing, spearfishing in particular. She said, "There are all types of fishing opportunities". I found this to be completely untrue. During the time of the year I was there, there were exactly zero fishing opportunities. I asked her if she had any connections to fishermen she could link me up with. She sent me the number of an expat who goes spearfishing in the right season. The first thing he messaged to me was that, "conditions this time of year generally suck." Well, I can take responsibility for not finding this out before making the trip up there from Panama City, but I would also like to see some accountability taken by Silvia for not even knowing this very important detail. Maybe she could have reached out to this contact to see about the viability of fishing there before either lying or lazily passing along false information. ||Whatever is your reason for visiting Puerto Lindo, please consider it carefully before booking to many nights...
Read moreDon't go there if you haven't booked a boat before!||We had contact with Silvia before we went there. She told us to come and we will find a boat via San Blas to Catagena (Colombia). So we trust her to find a boat. As we arrived in her Hostel she hadn't time for us. She was always in hurry and it was no nice atmosphere! She told us to go to the village and find a boat by ourself (without specific contacts). We felt lost and very disappointed walking around four days to search for a chance to go to the islands and to colombia. In this area is nothing special to do! You don´t have internet in the hostel or in the village. There are no supermarkets to buy something. After four days we left without a boat and with ~120USD (for the nights) less. ||People in the village we met told us this story happens not the first time! .... It feels like a rip-off.||The rooms of the hostel are nice, but the unfriendly and stressful atmosphere we haven't felt welcome. During our stay they have been in our room (to check?), but it wasn't not cleaned! Some of the (5?) dogs are incalculable, onetime they are friendly and onetime they bark and try to bite you.||Finally, we DO NOT recommend...
