We (three Americans) stayed for three nights in Great Tinamou Cottage in the course of a two-week trip to Panama. When we arrived we were under the impression that we had only booked for two nights, but were thankful to have had the extra night, since Hans and Terry's hospitality was absolutely terrific. The property is really not all that far from town (though a rental car is handy; we got ours at the David airport and Hertz was able to fetch it from Tinamou on the morning we left), but it feels worlds away. Seriously: the forest around the cottages is incredibly lush and full of all sorts of birds and other wildlife. On our first morning at the cottage (eating the delicious fruits and pastries Terry prepared for us every morning in our breakfast basket, a lovely touch) a troop of white-faced capuchin monkeys passed by, never attempting to get on the porch or commandeer any snacks, but leaping from tree to tree and peering at us with interest. It was very, very special. Hans and Terry provided us with excellent advice about food and activities during our stay in Boquete (the Cafe Ruiz coffee tour and Pipeline Trail were both terrific), and if you are heading off to Bocas del Toro as we were doing (or vice versa), the tour from Boquete to the Caribbean that Hans conducts is really the only way to do it. The man is genial and a fount of information about the beautiful landscapes through which you travel. Do not hesitate, if you take his tour, to stop off at the Silico Creek indigenous village for the cacao tour. A day we otherwise would have wasted mostly in transit ended up being one of the highlights of our entire trip. The cottages are clean and wonderfully homey; more like staying at the vacation house of old friends than in a conventional bed and breakfast or...

Read moreTerry and Hans were exemplary hosts in every way!! They were also good company, good humored, and highly knowledgeable in so many different areas that enriched our experience in Boquete. At every turn they skillfully anticipated things that would assist us in getting the most out of our time spent in Boquete. Staying at Tinamou added value to the rest of our days in Boquete in ways that are hard to appreciate until you step back into your life and relive your time there.||Of a special note to those who travel specifically for the joy of witnessing nature, in my case birds,Terry is a bird guide of a rare breed. She is passionate, extremely knowledgeable about habitat, habits, calls and songs, etc etc, skilled at using her knowledge and sharing it with you! And as if that was not enough, she was exceptional as a companion during our shared time birding.||The accommodation itself was comfortable, "comforting", clean, inviting, peaceful, and all in the extreme. Coffee, fruit, and cakes were devine. This may or may not be an accommodation for the backpacker set or the jet set, but it was perfect for this set, what ever this set is. Well done Hans and Terry for creating an amazing life and sharing it...
