Hotel La Hija Del Conde — Hotel in Las Margaritas

Do not even consider this place! I emailed this place in Feb to reserve rooms: 3 singles in separate rooms or 1 single and one double in 2 rooms. I was quoted $30/person/night. The place looked nice on the web, so I booked it. I sent a re-confirmation email to them a few weeks before our arrival date. Upon arrival, on a Saturday, I was told that The person who responded to my email was not authorized to quote prices (they have only one email address so I do not know how they can say this) and we would have to pay $60/person/night. We argued a while and the lady finally agreed to charge us $120 each for the 4 nights I had booked. The first night there was no hot water, The restaurant had no menu and a limited choice of 3 or 4 fried items. Breakfast was basic with eggs and bread. The pool area looked really nice, but we were the only people there the entire weekend (this seemed strange). there were bugs in our room and even in my bed. On the morning of the 3rd day (Monday) The lady who checked us in came to our breakfast table and told us she would need another $120/person for the additional two days. She again explained that the person who took our reservation was not authorized to do so and that the owner would not bend on the rate (even though there were no other people staying at this dump!). We packed up and left. There must be a reason that no one else was staying at nor using the pool and restaurant at this place. The reason is it is a dump and these people who run it are...

This place is horrible with horrible service. Tiny room, bathroom dirty, no shampoo, no bathroom cup, room is super run down and in bad shape. Blanket stained and towels had holes in them. Room totally depressing. $40/night to stay here. Nowhere to put your clothes. Owner wanted 50% deposit wired to his bank account. I booked for 4 nights and stayed for 1 because they also lost electricity and water the 2nd day and could not get either fixed after 5 hours. They still wanted to keep the money I paid for the 3 additional nights. Was very difficult to get them to return the money I paid for the 3 unused nights and said the loss of power and water “was not their responsibility.” It wasn’t until I had a friend who is a local in Chepo come to the hotel to help me (and after much arguing) that they agreed to refund some (not all) of the unused nights. I now found a beautiful, bright and clean place with a kitchen, refrigerator, dining room and 2 bedrooms, bathroom for $38 a night and wonderful,...
