This was our second time staying in La Pintada River Inn but this time around it was an extremely disappointing experience. The owner of the place lives in the hotel and he struggles to separate his personal living space with the business that he is supposed to be running. The common area is a tiki hut with tables and a desk, which is an around the clock entertainment focus of the owner and his two teenager kids. They created a chaotic and annoying environment by constantly playing video games, changing the music and yelling to each other. Quite the opposite of what we were looking for. ||The staff is very friendly and they will go far and beyond to please you, but they only work part time. They come and prepare your breakfast, clean and then they will be dismissed until the next day. So, there is no lunch or dinner available. This is very important because if you don’t speak Spanish, you will struggle to get anything to eat in the area. The area is beautiful but rural and the locals are friendly but they don’t speak English. The place has many tables but the fridge is empty and there is a pizza oven that is more like a pots and pans cabinet than anything else. I witnessed when a group of five Americans came into the hotel trying to get something to eat and they were “suggested” by the owner to go down to Penonome (about twenty minutes down the road) to get something to eat. We had to go out, buy groceries and cooked it ourselves and this apparently wasn’t of the owner’s liking and also became an issue. We stayed there because I had personal business to attend in the area and this was the closest venue but three days into our stay and we decided we had enough and moved to another hotel. ||The place without breakfast included is $45.00 with breakfast is $65.00. Do the math, $20.00 for pancakes and eggs! And it was definitively not worth it. I strongly support “Mama and Papa’s” businesses but this time around I ended up staying at “Crazy Uncle Tom’s couch”. The owner is rude with his employees and guests alike. He is obnoxious and he talks to people like you were one of his kids. He made us feel like unwelcome uninvited guests and I will never return to stay in La Pintada River Inn. I’m amazed on how come one person can have such a negative impact in such...
Read morePanama was the first stop on our family vacation through Central and South America. We saw the amazing pictures and sent an email to the owner to ask about local activities/events and about the hotel itself. The owner, DP Jones, was very polite and so very helpful. He personally helped us organize our trip in Panama by helping us choose beautifully places and local things to do. Even before we arrived he gave us a warm and helpful welcome. Once we arrived, DP Jones was the best host we could've asked for. The personal care and attention he gave to us to make sure everything about our stay was perfect was absolutely refreshing. He told us amazing stories about his time in Panama and his life which my kids and husband could not get enough of. The food they served us for dinner was so delicious that we abandoned all restaurant suggestions DP made to us (which i'm sure were great) in lieu of eating breakfast and dinner at the hotel every single night of our stay. This hotel is so beautiful and has many things to do while also having lots of space to relax with peace and quiet. We will certainly be returning to this gorgeous little gem on our next family vacation!!! DP Jones, if you're reading this, thank you so much for your attentive care and warm personality, you really made our stay in Panama the best...
