We booked and paid for a junior suite with mini bar ( so we could use the fridge for milk, etc) and small private deck, on arrival, we got a standard room with no fridge, no kettle, no private deck and told no junior suites available. They didn't offer or give us the refund in the difference, which was double the cost of rooms. The restaurant service was slow but delightful as the staff were very busy that day. If you want a basic room with pretty grounds this is okay, but be sure of the cost first. Also, keep in mind that the access doors are locked from 11 pm to 7 am...we needed an early start but found ourselves locked into the rooms area of the facility with no access to the lobby or any way to leave....feeling a little Hotel California-ish at this point....in the dark with phone flashlights at 6 am..the night guard at the gatehouse finally noticed our lights and let us out after 15 minutes.. The staff were friendly and nice but, mid afternoon in the restaurant, very understaffed for the...
Read moreHotel Dos Rios met our needs for our visit to Volcan. It is conveniently located off the main road and has the most spectacular outside setting with a natural river and beautiful plants with pathways and some seating to enjoy the outdoors. There is a restaurant open from 7am to 8 pm and they are known for their pizza which was very good. The rooms and bathrooms were adequate...a bit outdated....But there is cable TV and hot water. ||The only thing that kept me from giving Hotel Dos Rios five stars is that their included breakfast only includes one line item...which is two scrambled eggs and some white toast and coffee or tea. There is no other selection unless you want to pay the difference for it. I’ve never been to a hotel with an included breakfast that didn’t give you a variety of options such as cereal, fresh fruit, etc....so I found that annoying. The staff was generally nice, but their English was quite limited. Nevertheless all in all, it was a pleasant visit for...
Read moreThe best feature of the hotel is the charming garden in this beautiful location. ||The rooms are good with basic amenities and comfortable beds / pillows. Unfortunately the walls are paper thin and you can hear every word said in the adjacent rooms. Be aware that you have zero privacy and it may impact on the quality of your sleep if you have loud neighbours.||The restaurant was busy when we stayed and the service was not brilliant. They didn't have a selection of drinks so if you don't drink wine or beer you are out of luck. They didn't seem very keen to give me water either! It was a bit awkward really and I'm sure with a bit of work on my part I could have tackled it but the waiters were just not really that bothered about the guests having a good experience. They made up for it with the pizza which was great. ||It was fine but I would try another...
