El Remanso represents the marriage between two worlds: One of luxury, comfort, and accomodation, and the other of adventure, wilderness, and seclusion. Like any early settlement on the frontiers of ever-encroaching civilization, neighbors - though often few and far between - are the ties that bind. Hanik and the El Remanso team have built a small, tight-knit, community on the pristine shores of Playa Encanto, along the west coast of Saboga.
And that's what you're getting at El Remanso: A paradoxical blend of seclusion, wilderness, luxury, and community. At least one beach to yourself, whether El Encanto itself, or Playa Escondida just around the nearby promontory, and Playas Negra and Blanca further up the low-tide hiking trail. Just down the cobblestone path south lies Jean-Baptiste and Ely’s Beach Club, replete with delicious French cuisine, an outstanding view, and warm atmosphere - this beach bar and grill with candlelit tables and airs of seafood and bossa nova, a cotter pin in the El Remanso community.
Hanik was the consummate host, highly responsive and promptly answering our questions prior to booking, arranging for our water taxi from Contadora to Saboga, connecting us with key island resources including restaurants and excursion services, and above all generously ensuring an extra special stay with my fiancee for my 35th birthday. Between Hanik and Jean-Baptiste, we always felt like every need was taken care of, and that we were always looked after.
The inn itself is a gem within a gem. While we stayed in the Eagle suite, each room is gorgeous, and we felt that the representation of our lodging on social media, while highly professional and truthful, still failed to truly do justice to just how beautiful the rooms, modern the amenities, and stunning the views from our balconies of the Pacific Ocean really were. The value is absolutely outstanding. It's without doubt the finest vacation experience we've ever had the...
Read moreThis place and its host deserves more than 5 stars. This place is a treasure box at a magical location. The accommodation is so well designed and it’s located right by a gorgeous beach that feels truly private to you. You can just relax there, or take a jungle walk to different beaches, or when the tides are low you can just hop from one beach to another walking by the water. Hanik is a fantastic host. Truly the best host I’ve ever had and I stayed in many Airbnbs that was shared with the hosts. She responded to the million questions we had prior to our trip and was very attentive the whole time. Hanik showed us around the island giving us the best tips, even baked us bread and hosted fun “sundowners” with drinks and snacks for all the guests. We stayed 7 nights in the hummingbird suite and did not want to leave the place at the end. This place has stunning views even from the room. Just chilling on the balcony listening to the birds will feel like you are in a treehouse in the jungle. There are so much good I could list and write about. If you want a relaxing vacation, away from the noise and people, while also be super comfortable then this place is for you. We loved walking to the village to get some basic essentials from the little stores, or get empanadas freshly made from the locals, and snorkel by the sailing club. La Choza restaurant is a 2 minute walk where you can have delicious lunch or dinner made by amazingly kind humans. We didn’t skip a day. If you want noise and bars, Contadora is next door. Saboga is for...
Read moreWonderful Stay at El Remanso on Saboga Island!** If you’re seeking a relaxing getaway with paradise-like views, look no further than El Remanso. Our stay here was nothing short of magical. The hotel offers a majestic view of the Pacific Ocean, and the serene atmosphere instantly makes you feel at peace.
A special shout-out to Hanik and Ehran, who were exceptional hosts. Their warmth, attentiveness, and deep knowledge of the island elevated our experience. They provided fantastic recommendations for activities and ensured every detail of our stay was perfect.
The hotel itself is stunning, nestled beside what we believe is the most pristine beach on the island. Our room was charming, spacious, and thoughtfully equipped with air conditioning, a comfortable bed, plush towels, and all the essentials. Waking up to the ocean view from our window was a daily highlight.
One unique feature is the shared kitchen, fully stocked with utensils and appliances—ideal for preparing meals. A friendly tip: While the kitchen is convenient, we recommend bringing some groceries (especially for breakfast), as dining options on the island are limited. That said, don’t miss La Choza, a delightful restaurant just a short walk from the hotel. Run by Jean-Baptiste and his Elii , it offers delicious fusion cuisine in a cozy, welcoming setting.
Without a doubt, El Remanso is a hidden gem. We’re already dreaming of our next visit to this slice...
