Great place to stay in Popondetta. Walking distance to town. Hosts are very friendly. Listed as a BnB, but to our pleasant surprise, dinner was also included. There are 2 types of rooms, all air conditioned. Some are shared bathroom facilities. There are more rooms upstairs at the back that are larger and have en-suites. No hot water, but this was not an issue in the humid climate. If anything, the cool shower before bed was a great way to prepare for sleep. Igi was an excellent concierge. He accompanied us to town to ensure we got to where we were going safely. He also organised transport to Gona for us. In addition, the house van was used to take us into town for banking (their EFTPOS was down at the time) and to the airport for no additional cost. The drivers were also very helpful and stayed with us at the airport until we were checked in. The meals were all substantial and enjoyable. I learnt about ‘eating bananas’, a savoury banana that was part of the vegetables for dinner. The rooms had foam mattress beds and clean sheets and towels. All rooms were air conditioned and power points available for phone charging. There is definitely some maintenance needed, but I did not feel this impacted on comfort. If you are comparing to a high end hotel, you will be disappointed.
