La Quinta, only about an hour out of Asuncion is a tropical haven where you can relax in a hammock, swim, horseback ride, socialize with other guests, talk politics with the owner (she use to work in D.C.) and eat incredible home-cooked meals.||||The food is exceptional, with much of it grown on the premises. They even have their own dairy! The owner used to own a restaurant in Brazil, and she has taught her cooks her best recipes.||||For children there is a playground, children's pool, little petting zoo, games (ping pong, foosball, tv, board games, computers) in the club house.||||You can rent a room with two levels (sitting room and loft) or a casita. All are air conditioned and have a plantation feel with lots of native woods. All accomodations have great lounging areas, such as porches with hammocks, patios, terraces, etc.||||The grounds are exceptionally beautiful with well tended gardens and a bamboo stand that clicks magically in the breeze.||||Soft samba music plays on speakers through out the compound. Being a North American, I'd prefer just bird songs, but the South Americans enjoy it. There is a mix of people, some Paraguayans, Americans and one Japanese couple when I was there. Apparently the American Embassy staff like to come here for a break.||||The best part of all? Incredibly affordable! Well worth the trip to Paraguay. It reminds me of Hawaii without the ocean, perhaps...
Read moreLa Quinta has beautiful grounds and space to walk around. They also have horses if you are in to that. The owner is very friendly and welcoming. We wanted to go on a hike and the owner sent someone with us, which for us was kind of weird. It was quite a short walk and it was strange to be accompanied. |||| The food is included in the price and it is delicious and plentiful. There is a lot of variety, including a salad bar with great fresh veggies and a large selection of beverages, both alcoholic and non. The cabins are clean and modern, but it would be nice to have more than just a sink. We were there in the winter and it was actually quite cold. The bedrooms had heaters but the living room did not and it was difficult to stay warm and hang out in the living room. They did bring us some extra blankets which was nice. The shower was warm which we were...
Read moreI went to La Quinta in January 2023 to have lunch and took the opportunity to make a reservation to spend a night there. Due to health issues I decided to cancel my reservation (few days before the reserved time) and asked for a reimbursement. Let me tell you, that seems to be an impossible task. Or they don't want to reimburse you for a cancelation made on time or they don't know how to do it. Here I am, a month later still asking for my money. The place is beautiful but don't make a reservation unless you are 100% sure that you will be able to make it because otherwise you might not see your...
