The pictures you can see that promote la Wayaba were obviously taken a long time ago. The lodge has the most stunning location and the rooms/chalets were created in the most original way. The site makes you feel you are in a little bit of the Atlantic Forest, even if it does feel a little cramped.||However. The lack of maintenance is obvious instantly. The bedside ledge was broken. The cabin provided had a large window and a door, both with broken locks. Reading further down the earlier reviews, this has been a problem identified for some months but not fixed. When contacted about this, the owner denied they were broken. This is not an academic point. The frontier has its security issues, the lodge is not in a smart area and even the entry to the lodge is accessible by just pulling the gate aside. ||The cabin smelt damp, had cobwebs, looked very tired and had a lot of mosquitoes despite being early afternoon. Even without the lack of minimal security, it was not an attractive prospect for staying in. ||The staff seemed disinterested from before we arrived. I asked the best way of getting to the Argentine side of the Iguazú falls. 24 hours later, I got a message that just read ‘GPS?’ which was not helpful, the worst way to go there being in your own car - Argentine border control for private vehicles can take hours. On being informed of the issues, it seemed they were less troubled at trying to resolve them and more resigned, again, to hearing the same issues being raised. ||It’s all a bit ‘asi nomas’ (‘whatever’), as we say in Paraguay. Llegamos y no había nadie. No dejan un teléfono de contacto ni nada. Tuvimos que recorrer todo el pueblo hasta que un amable señor nos facilitó el teléfono de un chico que conocía a la chica que se encarga del lugar. Estuvimos más de una hora intentando localizarla y al final apareció por allí una amiga suya que nos dio las llaves de las habitaciones. Y, ¡Oh! Sorpresa, una de ellas estaba ocupada por los huéspedes anteriores y nos tuvieron que realojar en otra (¡menos mal que había una libre!). Además, la limpieza del lugar brilla bastante por su ausencia. Creemos que las sábanas de una de las habitaciones estaban usadas. Por no hablar de que la mitad de las cisternas no funcionaban.
