We have stayed for 3 nights at Inti Wasi. After reading negative things about Puno and day trips from there, we were looking for an alternative. Inti Wasi was exactly what we were hoping for. With its rural setting and stunningly beautiful views of the Titicaca lake it was not just a memorable and relaxing experience, but - quite unexpectedly - one of the highlights of our 5-week South America trip.||Before arrival I communicated with Mariela via email and she organized everything for us, starting from a taxi from Juliaca airport to day trips to Ticonata, Amantaní and the non-touristy Uros islands. All these trips were private and reasonably priced, taking into account that they included lunch, and above all, a more authentic local experience. Especially memorable was a lunch with a local family at Amantaní at Erika's house, who were wonderful hosts and gave us an invaluable insight into life at a Titicaca island.||Our room was beautifully decorated in local style. It was not large, but had everything one needs for a comfortable stay, including a hot shower and heating. The evenings were cold, but heating was efficient and we even had to switch it off during the night because it was too hot. The room had a beautiful view of the lake, too.||The best thing about Inti Wasi are the people. Upon arrival Mariela immediately cooked a medicine for my stomach after she had heard I had slight problems. Pilar took care of us every day with a smile. The breakfast she prepared was delicious, including home-made bread and fresh juice. It was always a pleasure talking to her and she was very patient with my basic Spanish skills. Mariela is an excellent cook, too. Walther was very gracious the last morning when he invited the driver and guide picking us up for a transfer to La Paz for breakfast and a chat. They were all wonderful hosts and contributed to an...
Read moreThis is a good choice if you want to enjoy some awesome landscapes before going to the main islands, namely Amantaní and Taquile.||||Chifron is about an hour and a half away from Puno city, and the little trip is totally worth, perhaps the main reason to stay in this house is the amazing landscapes, the house is perfectly located over a hilltop. The owners built this place in such a way that you have the feeling of being on a balcony right in front of Lake Titicaca. ||||This rural hotel is nicely built using local materials such as stones, wood, they have plenty of flowers as well, it was cool listening to the birds early in the morning. The hotel is located next to Chifron beach, it's easy get to the beach and have a walk or even swim. The beach has a small harbor where you can take boats to the islands nearby. ||||There rooms are clean and confortable, perhaps the ceiling is too high and rooms tend to be cold at night, even using the provided electric heater a few more blankets would have been useful. ||||The only two regrets I have about this place are: 1) They may not be able to make you a lunch on Sunday, instead you can go to the local open-air-market located about 20 minutes away if you go walking. 2) Maybe my bed mattress was insanely soft, I felt like I was drowning on my own bed and waked up with back pain. So make sure you choose a suitable bed.||||To summarize, I would recommend this hotel if you want to enjoy a beautiful rural experience before going to more popular places such the...
Read moreThis house is located on a hill overlooking the Lake Titicaca. The view is incredible, you can also do some hiking around, the views along the way are spectacular. There´s no heating inside the room but you get a heater and plenty of very warm blankets. I was even getting hot during the night. There´s plenty of hot water, just keep the water running for several minutes. I had breakfast and dinner while I stayed here, and everytime it was big portions and varied, and very tasty. Mariela and Walther, who run this place, are so nice and friendly, an amazing family, they do such a great job. ||Walther also organized trips for me to one of the Uros islands and Amantani island. Both trips were outstanding and totally private. Even on the Uros island that I visited I was the only tourist there! And the family that was receiving me on Amantani island made me feel very welcome and took me for a very picturesque walk to the...
