Llachon is cute and very quiet (probably because it was the low season there were not many people), there is not much to do apart from two short hikes to reach miradors where you can get a nice view and if you are lucky a nice sunrise. Note that there are no restaurant in the village and it's hard to get food appart in the homestay. The room and the food at Oliver's were nice for a good price. However, we were in general disappointed in the sense that we read comments beforehand about Llachon highlighting an "authentic experience" and a "stay in local famillies". This is not the experience we had : we felt like in a classical homestay, and Oliver's place was more like a hub where tourist boats from Puno stop for a quick lunch on their way to the islands. We stayed 2 days at Oliver's place. We were just arrived on the first morning that Oliver proposed us a boat tour to the floating island (los Uros) for 150 soles, and we thought that it was quite expensive compared to the boat tours from Puno that cost only 30 soles for the full days with stops on several islands. He told us that the visit of the floating island costs 15 soles per person, while actually the visit of the island is free, but you can pay 15 soles for a tour in a traditional boat (and of course it is nice to leave a tip or buy some of their handcraft product). The second day, a boat was supposed to stop to take us to the Taquile island and then back to Puno for 50 soles (that is still more than the 30 soles that the whole trip costs from Puno) so we waited the whole morning but at the end the boat didn't dare stoping. So we decided to leave and go back to Puno with a colectivo, but we were a bit upset that we waited for nothing (and we got no...
Read moreReally really nice and lovely local accommodation. Sebastiana was a really nice host and also her whole family is extremely kind. She helped us organising various activities/trips and always cooked super delicious food. In total we stayed 3 days there. We took the local bus from Puno to Capachica for 6 Sol and another local bus from Capachica to Llachon for 2.5 Sol. It goes quite often. From the bus stop in Llachon it's maybe a 10min walk to their place. But it's totally worth it especially if you like to see super nice sunsets over the Titicaca lake. We highly recommend staying at this place. Muchas Gracias...
