We stayed at the Posada de Cuispes and absolutely loved the entire experience! The posada is very close to several giant waterfalls, and beautiful cloud forests. Javier went above and beyond and personally picked us up in Pedro Ruiz and got us to Cuispes, helped us to arrange (via the local guides in Cuispes) our walking tours of Yumbilla and the surrounding area, and basically took care of everything we needed during our stay. His lovely mother-in-law Do~a Hilda cooked us amazing meals during the entire time we were there and took care of us by making us herbal infusions with local plants and keeping us company. When we were not out exploring --with awe-- the area's beautiful landscapes, we enjoyed laughing, talking and playing cards with the host family at night in the dining area and gazing at the stars and the fireflies in the flower-filled courtyard. In the daytime we discovered the beautiful garden out back, which is filled with all sorts of orchids and flowering plants, as well as fruit and coffee plants. More than a lodging establishment, the Posada de Cuispes is a personal experience which helped us to know a kind and loving family who loves to host and introduced us to experience the natural beauty, food, and wonderful humor of the region. We miss them already and want to go...
Read moreIn many of my trips to Peru I had different experiences with hotels, I slept in hotels of all kinds, sometimes because there was no alternative, but to find such a picturesque place in the middle of a mountain, also full of beautiful stained glass, orchids and nature at every point of the place, finding this was something I did not expect. ||One of the things that I like most is that this lodge is a fair tourism project, in which the village is directly benefited.||A percentage of the inn's income goes directly to the conservation of the rainforest, ||in addition it is administered by a local family and the profits of the guided and of the meals are entirely of the community.||||For me, Yumbilla is a place that has to be visited on the northern route of Peru and the proximity is more than convenient, is the only place near it.||When I arrived there, I decided to establish this place as my base of operations, ||from there I visited the forest of the giant waterfalls, Kuelap, the laguna de los condores, Karajía, and the sarcophaguses of cerro del tigre.||||The manager of the hotel was very friendly and knew how to answer all the doubts that I had. One of the highlights when it comes to...
Read moreWe arrived late at Pedro Ruiz and found that this highly rated posada was nearby; thus, we decided to drive about 10km up the mountains. We were asked 180 soles for a room with two beds, one queen and one twin. We found the price to be high compared to other places in Peru. But, it was late, so we had to stay.||I agree it is a nice looking posada and the small town is very quite, but the rooms are very simple. The same goes with the food. Dinner is not expensive, but you get a potato, rice and a piece of meat, that's it.||The gentleman in charged, who is very nice and knowledgeable of the area, cleaned our room very well after we left (we hiked to the nearby falls and came back to the posada, so we noticed), but when my daughter when to sleep the night before she found a spider in her bed and the sheets did not look clean. I do not care much about this in villages like Cuispes, but when they charge 180 soles, I would...
