Hotel Arena Blanca Cutervo — Hotel in Cutervo

I booked here because it was the only hotel using booking.com and for me, with fairly pathetic Spanish, particularly on the phone, that is the booking method of choice. Although I suspect it would be cheaper to book direct (If anyone finds out this is so, please tell booking.com!). It was a comfortable and more or less clean hotel where the showers worked and the wifi more or less. All the staff were very helpful, although English was in short supply. I got some laundry done, and most days got a thermos of hot water and some instant coffee for my room. But they could not organise a private transfer from the nearest airport (Jaen) so I ended up on the bus, where my suitcase was dropped to the ground from the roof of the vehicle as I was far to fragile to catch it - I did not want to bounce too. Luckily no harm done. Breakfast was available in the nearby Ushun Cafe, but not till after 8am which was rather limiting. My bill was completely unitemised, so I have no idea what the laundry or coffee etc cost. And they could not make the VISA machine work, so I had to pay in cash. A primera vista el hotel parece cómodo y limpio, pero es solo fachada. Para empezar me dieron baños sucios, inodoros salpicados de orina de los huéspedes anteriores, grifos y lavabos también sucios. Al reclamar tales inconvenientes al dueño y a la persona encargada de la limpieza pretenden limpiar, pero todo queda igual de sucio. También por la noche cortan el agua, así que si uno quiere usar el agua debido a las necesidades humanas, no se tiene acceso a ella, además hay que llamar muchas veces a recepción para que enciendan la llave del agua. Tanto la higiene como la atención del personal no está a la altura del precio que cobran. Por otra parte, el personal del hotel se altera e insultan a los que nos atrevemos a reclamar los inconvenientes. Esto y mucho más hacen de una estadía en este hotel un tremendo dolor de cabeza. Si les importa la limpieza, el trato y la comodidad, NO LES RECOMIENDO ESTE HOTEL. Hay otros que ofrecen mejor servicio y por mucho menos. Los hoteles que están en el centro valen la pena...

A very nice hotel, clearly the cleanes t and most comfortable option in Cutervo. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Nice big television, fast internet and good shower. No breakfast though....
