Hitting town without a reservation after a six hour collectivo ride from Ayacucho, we were ready to splurge. The Hotel Presidente has great street appeal on the main square, but inside, however, you are not totally sure it is still in operation. The common space has a somewhat abandoned look and feel. The rooms, however, are quite nice, albeit oddly furnished with what your grandmother would have loved. The bed and sheets were the best we had had since Lima and the bathroom and hot water were great. Even had a hair drier! In another situation, would not have splurged for these accommodations. The rooms are way over priced for the overall value, but then again, the options in Huancavelica are limited. Whether you select this option or not will depend on how charged your batteries are when you hit town. I don't think breakfast was included, but honestly, we left without asking for the 6:30 am train...

But rooms are ample, beds confortable , clean and warm. If traveling by car be advised there is room for parking only 4-6 vehicles. |Also by 5.00 AM the surrounding churches ring their bells, it is impossible to keep sleeping with the noise. |Overall hotel is overpriced for the services provided, but it is the only decent hotel...
