IPAL ECOLODGE — Hotel in Huayopata

Ipal Ecolodge is a good starting point for birdwatching in the Huayopata valley and Abra Málaga. It has a couple of two-bed cabins that have a small bathroom with a toilet and a hot shower. There is a half-open living room that is used both as dining room and as hide for watching the birds in the garden. There are a good amount of hummingbirds, tanagers and other birds around. The spectacular Swallow-tailed Hummingbird is the biggest attraction, as it is a species that is hard to find anywhere else in Peru. The lodge is basic, but a very pleasant place to stay.
