It's definitely a privilege to write the first tripadvisor review for this hotel. It is understandable why there are not many travellers to Jaen, as it is very far of the tourist route.||Our group was travelling here for a wedding of a dear friend who has moved to Jaen. After having looked around many of the places recommended by Lonely Planet, she informed us that this was by far the nicest. We had to take her word as there was, still is, not much on the internet about it.||Once we got there, we were thrilled with the choice!!||||The hotel is on a main road and from the front it doesn't look anything special - in fact, it is quite easy to drive past it without even noticing it.||But once you're inside, it is like the reality of Jaen is far away and you're in a little paradise.||The rooms are, in fact, little bungalows, each with private bathrooms. The showers weren't always hot so that wasn't the nicest of experiences. However, that was the only negative. The rooms were very spacious - a double room meant 2 single beds (but this is quite common apparently), a fridge and a tv.||||The highlight of the hotel was the swimming pool area which was regularly maintained. It was in the middle of the complex with the bungalows all around. The pool itself didn't taste of chlorine, but it definitely had some form of cleaning agent in it, which was reassuring to see. ||The grounds were beautifully maintained - coconut and mango trees all around, regularly dropping their fruit, sometimes on your room's roof in the middle of the night!||||You could sit around the pool, have food from the bar connected to the hotel and relax in this peaceful setting. A typical meal cost around 18 soles, but in general us girls ended up sharing a meal as the quantity was quite big. ||Breakfast was included in the room’s price, and it was quite impressive. There was a menu where you could choose what you wanted and a waiter brought it out to you. Breakfast was between 7-10am.|| ||Water was a bit expensive to buy at the hotel, so one of our friends went out and bought a massive 20 litre barrel of water which we filled up our smaller bottles with. And from what we saw the hotel had no problem with this.||||The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, and they had no problems with us inviting our friends who weren't staying at the hotel in for the day with us. Wi-fi was available at the hotel. Although the internet connection isn't very fast in Jaen, it was worth having it there at the hotel.||||Outside the complex, Jaen itself was quite an experience. It isn’t the safest of places for non-Peruvians to be. The locals are opportunists who are on the look-out for people to mug or pick-pocket. So when out & about, don’t carry much on you and always be in groups. The main square in nice to go to in the evening – Lactobac is a good place to eat for westerners. Make sure everything you ask for is without salad, well cooked, and without ice! Motos (very similar to Asian tuc-tucs) one way to the main square from the hotel costs 1.50 soles – they will try and charge more, don’t ask for the price, just pay the amount. ||||In all, this place is definitely worth the money it asks for. Should your travelling route take you via Jaen, we would definitely recommend stopping at...
Read moreThe Hotel el Bosque have been remodel as it can be see when you arrive and stay, I rented a suite it was located at the 2nd floor, the problems that I noticed are the following, the hot water was not working when using the shower, also the shower drain was not draining properly making the water stay at your feet, the bedroom was spacious but there was no glasses or cups, no coffe maker, no desk, the bedroom have a king side matress kind of hard not very good quality, the pellows were to small and not good quality, I felt a mild disconfort from the conbination of the matress and pellow, the couch was to small for a suite, it needs inprovement, the faciloities have a sweeming pool that opens at 10 am and the jacuzzi, I think the jacuzzi and sweeming pool should be open 24 hours, the cleaning around the sweeming pool and jacuzzi area made the floors slipery and the janitor took a long time to maintain the jacuzzi and sweeming pool area, the entrance of the hotel shows a 4 star, I frankly as I told the hotel manager that I do not believe this is a 4 star hotel it may be a 2 star hotel but no more, it needs improvements in the room and facilioties, a 4 star hotel usually has a buffet breakfast, this hotel offers a hotel shoose breakfast, I stayed in Casa de Luna in Chiclayo a 3 star hotel and offered a wanderfull buffett breakfast, This review is to get the attention of el Bosque Owners to improve the facilities and do not mislead customers by naming them selfs a 4 star hotel when is not, fix the hot water systems and improve the bedroom furniture, the matress and pellows are poor quality and put a coffe maker, a desk, a better couch, coffe cups and cups. The internet and cable also when out during the 2 day of my stay, upon making a complaint the manager was rude but provided a 1 night...
Read moreEl Bosque's is a lovely hotel whose rooms are built around two sides of a large pool with an outdoor bar on the third side. From 10:00, pounding "music" blares from amps on each side of the bar and this continues until 23:00. For travellers who have had a long day and want to go to sleep (or for parents with children who are trying to put them to sleep), it's impossible. This is the only 4-star hotel we have ever stayed in--or any hotel for that matter, in over 50 countries-- in which every room is subjected to music of any kind and it's impossible to escape. ||On the plus side, the Pisco Sours and Sangria are excellent and the staff is responsive to requests--except...
