The Enai Hotel is unique because it offers the opportunity to enjoy the charms of the jungle and the Amazon River flowing literally a few meters away, without having to sleep in a bungalow or other difficult conditions for people who value city life. And that's where this review could end. Do you want to sleep in the jungle, but with 24/7 hot water, electricity and fast internet? If yes, this is almost certainly your option, because there are no suitable alternatives. However, in other respects, it is not a particularly great hotel in itself.
The biggest problem is the kitchen. As a vegetarian, I do not want to comment on the meat dishes, because I have not tried them, but regardless of whether we are talking about breakfasts or additionally ordered lunch/dinner dishes, the level is extremely low. For breakfast, soft waffles, overly sweet jams and poor quality cheese do not befit the hotel's reputation. The coffee from the drip is only ok. The dishes that can be ordered are priced like in restaurants are served in an elegant manner. It's understandable, because it fits the hotel formula, and the fact that driving to the city to eat something else means a dozen or so minutes by car encourages you to try something locally. And these higher prices and small portions would be well-justified if the food were good. Unfortunately, dishes such as spaghetti or quinoa are bland, devoid of almost any taste or expression, so much so that you simply have to salt and pepper them to make them taste anything. It's probably also the only place in the world where an acai bowl, not only not served cold, but like a blended mousse, has such an extremely bland taste. My last attempt was to order fried potatoes, because it seemed to me that it was impossible to mess that up. Unfortunately, with 20,000 varieties of potatoes registered in Peru, Enai uses such floury ones that they are suitable for many dishes, but definitely not fried potatoes or fries. It's a great pity that in desperation to eat anything acceptable I had to take a 15-minute taxi ride to the city, although the half-price in the city for a decent lunch made up for it in a way.
It's also not worth booking trips in Enai. They are as much as 3 times more expensive than those booked from tour operators in the city. There's no excuse here either, because tour operators come to the hotel and pick up participants, so even the issue of not having to leave the hotel is not an argument here.
It's hard for me to comment on the service. On the one hand, professional, but at the same time so tense that in my opinion it's blatantly artificial. In this respect, the hotel is moving towards taking itself and its guests very seriously, but to the point that it radiates coldness instead of a certain friendliness. It's nice to have respect shown at every turn, but personally I prefer places where the staff treats guests like humans, not with robotic manners.
All these remarks, however, are lost in the face of the first paragraph, in which I mentioned the most important advantage of Enai: if you need urban hygiene standards in the jungle, you probably have no choice. It is a pity that in the higher segment it is a choice for lack of...

Read moreWe stayed here for two nights to get acclimated to the weather before going to a lodge up the river. We were promptly picked up a the airport and driven to the hotel. Everything was in nice condition. We had an air conditioned penthouse room on the third level. The staff was very welcoming and even carried our luggage up the three flights of stairs which was great. We got settled in and relaxed a bit. I had contacted them through Whatsapp ahead of time to book a tour. We did the sunset river cruise. Tambopata Manu Expeditions picked us up right at the Hotel Enai dock. No one else was on the boat, besides the driver, so we got a private tour. We had a lovely guide. I believe her name was Annabell. She was quickly able to find two sloths for us to see nearby. She was very good a spotting interesting creatures. Then we cruised around and saw the most beautiful sunset. I wish I had booked more tours because this tour was far better than the others we had at the more expensive lodge. When we got back, we had a nice dinner in the restaurant. We ate several meals there. The food and cocktails were very tasty. The included breakfast was nice. We used the infinity pool the next day. At first I thought it was dirty, but realized that the dark color of the concrete just made it look that way. The temperature was great and it was very refreshing. Some of the walkways are a little uneven, so you need to watch your step. I loved that I did not get bitten at all by any insects. I did keep on my insect repellant, but there were no signs of mosquitos. Claudia was extremely helpful in arranging to get our luggage transported to the other resort. At first, she was going to store our luggage, but she contacted the other place and arranged for it to be picked up at their dock when they picked us up. It was a very smooth transition and very convenient to be picked up at the Hotel Enai dock instead of going back into town. All in all, I think Hotel Enai is probably your best option if you don't want to go deep into the jungle. They offer all of the same tours; yet you have wifi and electricity all day, as well as the option to have air conditioning. I wish we had stayed all four days there instead of doing two at Hotel Enai and two at another place. Hotel Enai was a far...
