We stayed for three nights in August 2025. What we liked: - the nature is beautiful and some of the excursions were truly worth it (lake Sandoval, parrot clay lick, night boat tour to look for caymans) - the back office is efficient, professional and helpful. We had a change in plans and got refunded respectively. What we did not like: - the rooms were very dirty and old. Ours had a soiled toilet from the people before and, upon checking with other guests, they had similar experiences. Holes in the netting meant that even a little bird got into our room. - the excursions cover three days max. If you stay longer, they just spread the same things over more days, meaning more hours at the hotel, without much to do. - your experience depends on the guide, some were great and some (like ours) barely spoke any English and did not care about the visitor experience. - the pool is filled from the river, meaning it’s full of mud. See photo. - the lodge gives the impression that new things are being built, and materials are spread around, but no work was done while we were there. - the food is basic. Think rice plus something for lunch and dinner every day.

To put it frankly, we didn’t have a very nice time here. The rooms, although rather large, were dirty and consisted solely of two beds with mosquito nets above them, held up by ropes that are at neck level so constantly need to be avoided by ducking as walking through the room. They also lacked fans, so we were hot at night. Furthermore, there were no windows, only mosquito nets, and since the rooms are quite close to one another we could hear even a quiet conversation in other guests rooms. We were also awoken at night by another guest snoring. The bathroom was dirty and there was no hot water, the shower did not drain properly so our cold showers were spent wading around in our shower water. The pool was also dirty, the bottom covered in a layer of slime and lots of dirt and algae floating around. The food was alright, and although the meal times were specific, there were lots of traditional dishes served, which we enjoyed. That being said, we had a great guide and the activities we did were lovely, although none of this was organised through the lodge.

It’s sad to see a budget friendly lodge fall into disrepair. We expected value camping in the jungle, but honestly you’re better to pitch a tent somewhere nearby. Here’s some hazards… No power - only generator on 5:30-8:30pm No hot water Shower won’t drain so foot soupy cold water Filthy dirt and bug filled rooms Bug filled pool with larva from stagnant water Large bat in room...twice! X-Large rat in another guests Sinking main lodge, half constructed new lodge On-site zip line off limits since tree fell and damaged Off site zip line dangerous and terrifying Monkey island swamp tredge disaster was first event, avoid if flooded Highlights? Friendly staff Friendly guests Knowledge guides Good price I guess…visit soon before the Amazon absorbs this lodge.

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights. We had booked a tour to Tambopata via an agency in Cusco, and this was the lodge that they partnered with.

Our room (in a bungalow) was clean and very basic. We had a relatively comfortable stay, but that's because we came with very low expectations. There are no fans in the room, so it can get stuffy for those not used to a tropical climate. Our main bugbear about the room was the extremely weak water pressure in the shower: it was just a trickle most of the time.

Electricity is only available in the evenings too (around 6-9pm), so you'll need to plan accordingly to ensure your electronic devices are charged. A headlamp is thus essential, not only for the activities, but to move around at night (e.g. go to the bathroom) when the electricity is out. There's also no WiFi or phone signal at the lodge, which is nice for a digital detox.

The positive aspects about our stay were the activities. The highlights for us were the boat ride at night to do some caiman spotting (saw a capybara too), the canoe ride on Lake Sandoval (saw many birds and squirrel monkeys), and of course the clay lick. For those who like the thrill of adrenaline, the "sky walk" (walking in the canopy on a thin wooden plank) and ziplines should provide a decent dose.

We didn't interact much with the lodge staff as our guide (Willian) served as the interface. Nevertheless, Willian was great and had good energy. We could tell he was very experienced based on the speed he was able to identify the animals we saw.

The meals at the lodge were pretty good. Portion sizes were alright, but not too big, so bringing some snacks will be handy if you're peckish like us. The chef cooks a really good lomo saltado (we've tried many in Peru), and we were glad to have tried the...
