Hotel Sauna Acuarius — Hotel in Lima Metropolitan Area

Its in a very rough neighborhood, we arrived at night after having to fight for 2 hours to get a taxi from the airport to the hotel for under 40 soles, it's only a 5 min ride and locals pay between 10-15. We were told at the door there was no running water. But it was too late at night, too dangerous, and too expensive to try to find another place. Clearly they haven't had running water for along time as the place was filthy, the floor is sticky, walls are covered in stains and the place smells of urine. There was a non functional​ jacuzzi in the room, a dirty mirror along one wall, and a red velvet headboard, that along with the neon brothel sign outside should give you a good indication of the style of place it is. It seems most of the hotels we saw in this area are of the more salacious sort. We booked it as it is close to the airport and thought it would be simpler, but getting a taxi there cost nearly as much as Mira Flores. I'd be inclined to believe alot of the positive reviews are not genuine. Though the claims of working internet and cable...

We stayed here for two nights, and it was pleasant. We checked in at 2 in the morning, and the staff is helpful, although they don't speak one word english, so we had to try and google translate everything.||||The rooms are clean, and ours had a jacuzzi (that wasn't super delicious, but that's not why we were there anyways.)||The breakfast was good, considering we're in South America! ||The area is pretty boring, and industrial, but you can get a taxi to the centrum in about 10 minutes. ||||There was a huge gap between the window and the wall, so the outside temperature and inside temperature would match all the time, which could be pretty cold. Here's an honest review...I foolishsly left a painting of mine in the car from the airport to the hotel (which you shouldnt pay more than 10 soles for btw)...not only did the owner personally drop me back to the airport...she assisted in tracking down taxi drivers, speaking to the cops and going from car to car in the airport area looking for the cab..she took my phone number and email address (we use google translate to communicate)...this level of service is more than Ive ever recd anywhere and I have to recommend this hotel ..The hotel is clean, basic, wifi enabled, 5 mins from airport... perfect for...
