First of all, the property is amazing. Whoever is behind the ongoing development of this place is a true visionary. The hotel facilities are beautifully designed, cozy, clean, and eco-friendly. The service has generally been great. The landscaping is incredible and the entire property borders the river Lurin. There is a beautiful pool with water slides and many other entertainment activities including great playgrounds for kids. They are continuing development with lots of construction further up the property so this place will keep changing as time goes on. This is one of the nicest resorts we've experienced in Peru to go and enjoy some time away from stress and to be surrounded by nature, yet have the comforts of a resort.||Now the downsides: 1. It's surrounded by nature and the Cieneguilla valley has a terrible problem with both mosquitos and zancudos. If you don't bring mosquito repellent and maybe even a can of mosquito poison for your room, you will have a miserable experience. 2. The restaurant is good, but not great, and the hours are very limited. And, there are no other dining options anywhere nearby unless you have a car and patience, so be warned. 3. The property is located at the fringe of modern connectivity- as of today, there's no Claro cell phone coverage; only Movistar. No internet, at least during our last visit, but that might have changed. For food, you're entirely dependent on the restaurant with limited hours unless you bring your own. If you're not prepared, when evening sets in you may feel isolated, abandoned, hungry, and thirsty; so be prepared! I'd definitely recommend you bring PLENTY of drinking water, snacks, mosquito repellent, maybe some lunch fixings, and a flexible attitude. If you do that, you'll really appreciate and enjoy this incredible property. If you don't, you'll have a...
Read moreWe visited Kankay as a one-night family get-a-way. We stayed in one of the cabins which made it comfortable for a family of four. However, despite all of the advertisement for activities such as horse rides, four-wheelers and a spa, none of these things where available. Very disappointing to learn upon check in especially since we have two teens. Apparently most things are only available on weekends.||||The pools are big, modern and clean, I'll give them two thumbs up. However, we rented the double tube for the water slides and apparently that should have warnings about two average size adults using it. My husband and I ended up flipping over and I was hurt quite badly...sadly the life guard didn't even come down to see if I was OK. We watched as other adults came down on the slide with a tube and they two almost flipped, I would imagine we were not the first. This area really needs attention.||||The food was decent, quite pricey for sure but I guess that was to be expected. We thought we were getting a buffet breakfast but it turned out to be chicharon.. alright but we are not big pork eaters and that was the only option. ||||The grounds were very pretty, we enjoyed the scenery but of course as the place is next to the river, there are bugs.||||The room was decent, nothing fancy but clean and adequate and we appreciated having two bedrooms. ||||Not much to do at night as most things on the property close at 5:00 pm so bring board games or other entertainment.||||Overall, we will visit again but it was not worth the price of the overnight stay (especially when we live so close in La Molina) but for others it might provide a nice get-a-way. Plan for the weekend so that you can enjoy some of the things advertised (they really should add details to these things on the website, there...
