We spent our last night in Peru at Inti Mar after almost four weeks of touring, including a few days in Bolivia. After almost a month of travelling around these beautiful countries this was the perfect place to unwind and put our feet up. We spent most of the day looking out to sea, watching various seabirds catching fish, and walking on the beach and along the cliffs. The hotel is linked to the scallop farm, so the food was unsurprisingly based around scallops and was superb. Lunch was scallops with spaghetti and parmesan whilst dinner was scallop and shrimp pizza with some fresh fish to start. When the pizza combination was first suggested I was hesitant, but the meal was exquisite.||I should point out that the accommodation is basic but has everything that you need and there is no electricity or hot water during the day, so if you are looking to be pampered this is maybe not the place for you. The location is also isolated, so if you're after some nightlife then you should look elsewhere. Imagine waking up with a view on a little island with pelicans and sea lions. Some dolphins passing by and the sound of the wave colliding with a boat fishing for Pejerrey. If you are going to stay in Paracas, take the time to travel a 15 minutes into the Reserva Nacional de Paracas to follow the coastline until you see a humble sign saying “Inti-Mar", barely reflecting the paradise that it announces.
This seashell farm (Conchas de Abanico) has been adapted to host guests on site. Not on large scale and everything with the greatest respect for the environment and the rustic style of the farm. It is runned by the extremely hospital and thoughtful Luis and his wife Rita. They will gladly tell you everything about the farm, the fauna, the recommended tours to explore the area and even organise a kayak trip or some snorkeling to catch seashell of your own.
