Inkita boutique guesthouse — Hotel in San Sebastián

A very attractive BnB with a lot of flaws:

1. AirBnB and our host double booked us with a much larger party (both parties booked exclusive use of the entire house),
2. poor communication,
3. a leaking skylight in one of our rooms and leaks in one of the rooms of the other party
4. poor temperature control of the water for the shower
5. lightbulb blew in the bathroom & the replacement offered was also dud
6. On AirBnB - advertises washer & drier. We had quite a lot of washing (7kg) which our hostess knew we needed back before we left the next morning. When we asked about it at the end of the day we were given to understand it had gone out to a service and would be back the next morning. The next morning we discoverer our laundry still being dried in a very inadequate drier outside on the lawn. It had not been dried the previous day because of rain so we packed up with a LOT of wet laundry. Ironically the equipment was located next to some incomplete building extensions where the work could have been done under cover.
7. “Approximate location” shown on AirBnB is 11km from actual location (shown here). Location is fine if you want a reasonably quiet area with a great view of the town and surrounding mountains and a lot more space than a typical BnB in a city. It’s less attractive if you thought you’d be a few minutes away from the historical district.
8. On the positive side: this BnB does offer breakfast (eggs, bread, jam, tea & coffee). This is quite uncommon among BnBs these days where you are often dependent on self catering and what the previous occupants have left behind.

We were booked into this Guesthouse by friends who live nearby. They did not book anyone else there before us, but they had checked their website which looks decent. However, after having spent one night there, I can assure you that the rooms look nothing like on the website. These rooms may have looked like this many years ago...meanwhile, they appear and feel very neglected if not gross (we have seen two different rooms). It seems there is no one who really feels in charge and takes care of this property. We have never seen the owner and were told by the maid that he takes care of a different hotel. Yes, obviously! We refused to pay the full USD 50.- since we felt this was totally overpriced given the lousy standard of the room. We were not even sure if the sheets of the bed had been changed. Moreover, there was no running water. Another guest whom I met in the hallway told me that there was no running water since two days!! Anyway, we checked out very early the following morning (obviously without a shower) and we could not wait to leave this place. Also, constantly barking dogs in the neighborhood made it hard to sleep at night....

Realmente una mala experiencia, fuimos a pasar una noche pensando en encontrar un hotel pintoresco y bien cuidado x la denominación boutique pero fue todo lo contrario, queda aprox a 30 minutos del centro, el mall Real plaza queda como a 20 minutos en taxi (12 soles), el "hotel" es una casa que han acondicionado pero con poco cuidado, el cuarto con una cama doble y 2 simples era pequeño, abrimos una maleta y no había donde pararse, el televisor que era antiguo no funcionaba, no tenían llave de la habitación, el baño si bien era privado para nosotros estaba fuera de la habitación y teníamos una salita pero los asientos no se veían aseados, los edredones se veían sucios y había insectos en el techo, la ducha se demoró demasiado en calentar x lo que me bañé con agua tibia fría, además no nos dieron boleta (si bien no la pedí es obligatorio entregarla, además que cobran los impuestos) lo mas rescatable son las vistas de los alrededores, la cochera, las mascotas, el desayuno casero (principalmente los panes) y la amabilidad de la Sra que...
