Quillabamba is a modest jungle town, about six hours from Cusco, that sees little tourism. The Hotel Alto Urubamba is located a block away from the Plaza de Armas and behind the main church. ||||The hotel offers two levels of accommodation: “basic” rooms with 2 beds, a table and chairs, shared bathroom with cold-water shower, and no towel service; S/30 (US$11). “Better” rooms are smaller but more nicely appointed, with private, hot-water bathroom and (I believe) towel service; S/65 (US$24). We like the Alto Urubamba for our groups because it is clean, comfortable, affordable, it has a restaurant on the premises, it is close to the Plaza and the market, and the staff is friendly.
