Amazing. I went looking for adventure and nature, but I got that and so much more! Yes, the treehouse is amazing with spectacular views but the people made my trip extra special. Elar was the best guide. He was so knowledgeable and so much fun. Each person or group has an assigned guide for the whole trip from beginning to end, including the trip from and back to puerto maldonado. There were 2 other groups there so I shared some activities with them, and some activities were individual. Your trip can be as mild or as exciting as you want. Elar would offer several options each day, depending on the weather, etc. The meals are family style and even though I'm not usually a social person, I LOVED that time. Talking and laughing with the other groups and guides and the manager. I also enjoyed chatting with Jesus and learning about the lodge. Elar, Jesus, Rolin (my crunching friend), and William are spectacular. I felt like a kid again going to summer camp and making the best friends and memories. You will leave with a full heart and plenty of mosquitos bites.

We had an incredible time at Alta Sanctuary. We saw a huge variety of fauna and flora. Particular highlights were pretty close encounters with spider monkeys, howler monkeys, macaws, toucans, tanagers, king vultures, green ibis, herons and a huge number of other beautiful birds, insects (there are a lot of insects), spiders and mammals. We saw puma tracks but no puma this time! The lodges, including treehouse are comfortable and the food is very good. The views above the canopy are spectacular and once-in-a-lifetime. We were really treated and got to have dinner in the treehouse beneath the stars although this is incredibly labour intensive and we were the only guests on that night. Victor our guide deserves special mention for being incredibly kind, knowledgable and really personalising our experience (we like birds!). All of the staff were very lovely to us. This was an incredible insight into this beautiful and precious ecosystem.

I typically don’t write reviews, but our experience at Alta deserves every bit of the five star rating. The mission of Alta and the Jungle Keepers combined with the unimaginable biodiversity and abundant wildlife of the Madre de Dios region sets Alta apart from other stations I’ve visited in the Amazon. The staff were amazing. The excitement our guides Elar and Victor had when spotting wildlife was infectious. The knowledge they eagerly shared can only be had by those indigenous to the area. The lodge staff, especially Jesus, Rolin, and Tio Jose, made us feel right at home. If you are visiting Puerto Maldonado and want to experience the unfiltered magic of the Amazon, do not hesitate book a stay here.

This was the trip of a lifetime. The staff, the food, our personal guide, Victor. Really, there's too much to say. If you are into wildlife, and wild places. This is it for you. We definitely recommend staying in the treehouse. The sunrises each morning were like first views of the Grand Canyon. Breathtaking. We saw Toucans and monkeys each and every glorious sunrise - from above the canopy. Per our request, we took several hikes per day, and every night. We saw and learned about the most amazing medicinal plants, capybara, caiman, 4 species of monkeys, macaws and other birds- the list is enormous. From the moment they picked us up in Puerto Maldonado, to the time they dropped us off at the airport, we felt cared for and welcomed. Another guest wanted to go fishing - so they took her fishing and we all ate fresh fish from the Las Piedras that evening! Alta Sanctuary goes to great lengths to help you craft your adventure, without a rigid schedule. They made it right, for us! Amazing....
