Amazing experience!!! We just came back from a 3 day 2 night tour with Finca and felt so taken care of from the moment we landed in Pto Maldonado to when we departed from the airport. We booked directly with Finca and communication with Oscar was easy (they were able to answer my multiple questions I had). They don’t take a deposit (as of the date of this review) and you pay upon arrival. We also only had a limited time and appreciated the flexibility to have just a 2 night experience. Pick up from airport was smooth, and they take you to their office in Pto Maldonado so that you can pack only what you need and store the rest of the luggage. It was there that we met our guide who stayed with us the rest of the time. Our guide, Pepe, truly made the experience!! He went above and beyond to help us spot wildlife, was so knowledgeable and in general so friendly, genuine, fun to chat with, and helpful. His passion for the wildlife was also so infectious that it made us even more excited and it was great to spot all kinds of birds, tarantulas, capybaras, capuchin monkeys, caimans/alligators, turtles, even a two-toed sloth in their natural habitat on our night walks and boat rides. We also loved visiting the Clay licks and saw so many macaws, parrots, parakeets and even a toucan for a split moment! We also got to go piranha fishing and had the fish we caught for dinner. In terms of lodging, the food surprised us - it was so yummy, including the breakfast set up for Clay lick viewing. There’s always coffee and tea and for the rooms, we got our own cabana with a hammock to sit outside and just listen to sounds of the jungle. The rooms are basic but fully comfortable (bed was comfortable) and very clean and what one would expect in a rainforest. The bathrooms were nice too. The hot water depended on solar power and also what one would expect as well. The staff on site are also all very friendly and helpful. Overall, this was a magical experience, and we are already missing our walks with Pepe, and the sounds and smells of the rainforest. Highly recommend for any nature lovers out there. You...
Read moreWhat a magical place to spend some time in the Amazon and just enjoying nature come to you. The Lodge was not on a large scale but big enough and just the way we liked it. Peaceful, food delicious buffet style and plenty (we are vegetarians and was pleasantly surprised) and all staff and guides were amazing, friendly, helpful and knowledgeful about the surroundings we were in. The cabins were roomy and comfortable. Totally screened n and netting surrounding each bed. Ceiling fan was a blessing because of the high humidity during our visit but I was thankful for the little battery fan I took with me. Plenty of complimentary filtered water available on site and hot beverages also. |The guides ensured that we were able to view as much wildlife as possible which just enhanced our stay. You need to know where to look and when. Without their knowledge, I doubt if our experience would have been so amazing. If you want to sleep in, this is not for you, you will miss what makes the Amazon so magical. Our trip here during our trip to Peru was a major highlight and reccommend to experoence yourself at this resort. We onky stayed 2 nights. I wish we had booked 3. Everything ran smoothly and nothing was ever an issue. Felt totally safe. Go fir it and enjoy|||Tips: bring hydralite cause its very humid and your body will need it. Bring mozzi repellant no less than 20 % deet especially if mosquiotis just love you to bits. I wore a net over my cap for evening walks and worked a treat. No bugs near my face. Wore convertable pants and applied mozzi repellant to any exposed skin and often on my clothes as an extra measure. Long sleeve shirts you can roll up when needed. All loose clothing and natural colours. Bright colours apparantly scare of animals. Sunscreen for the sun if you dont...
Read moreStayed at Finca with my partner, and we can not recommend it. Although the location is good, Oscar (owner/manager) was very polite on emails before the stay, but once we got there - he was aloof and pretty much gave you the impression that he doesn't have "power to deal with you". We were the only people in the whole place, so the restaurant/bar did not operate, had no cell reception or Wifi. We were told that the fan system is solar and would operate between 9am-5pm, and lights/plugs would work 24hours... In reality, EVERYTHING is solar, and from early evening to morning we had no lights, no electricity, pitch darkness and nobody to be found (especially one early morning when we were to wake up at 3am for bird watching - we got dressed in phone light ) Every night we found different kinds of insects in our room, from flies, mosquitos, cockroaches, ants... Bed sheets and towels were dirty, and once changed - were changed to even dirtier yellow sheets with black spots. We ended up shorting our stay from 3 nights to 2 nights and went to our next stop earlier than expected.
The bright spot was our guide, Joel (which acted as our full-on coordinator and trip manager), he was very knowledgeable, very accommodating and understanding. We do recommend him! Food was good and delicious, much better than our expectations!
Honestly, if you're planning a trip to the region, either boost your budget, or take some powerbanks and a tent - otherwise definitely lower expectation vs...
