|We did the Salkantay with Quechuas expeditions tours in Cusco. We were very positive about this tour and had very good experience with this company. On the Salkantay everything was very good for example: the tour guide (Wily), the food and how everything was arranged. For sure this was a five star tour!!| Quechuas opened a new lodge in the Amazon near Puerto Maldonado. And after the good experience with the Salkantay we decided to book this tour with Quechuas and we went to the Peru Amazon Lodge. We were here with two people and the second guests in this lodge. We took a good semi-cama night bus (which was arranged by Quechuas) and arrived in the morning in Puerto Maldonado. Here we were picked-up by our guide jose. We had time for the breakfast and the guide showed us a little bit of Puerto Maldonado. Afterwards we went with the boat to the lodge. The lodge is in the jungle on a amazing place. During the next days we had very nice activities like: walk in the jungle (also by dark), boat drive by night and searching for wildlife, sandoval lake (which was for me the best and most beautiful part of the trip), canopy, zip-lining, kayaking, local family (which was little bit akward and faked) and parrot clay lick. This was all very nice and especially through our guide Jose. He had a lot of knowledge and showed a lot about the jungle. We saw a lot of animals: several kind of monkey's, alligators (baby's and very big), otters, turtles, a lot of birds (also the green parrot and macaw). We arrived on day 4 in the morning in Puerto Maldonado. And the bus departed 9PM. It was a long waiting time and P. Maldonado is not that interesting. If I do it again I will take a flight or private transport back. Instead of waiting for more than 12 hours for the bus. The accommodation was very new and had a warm shower, good beds, nice seats on the balcony and looks all good. The only disadvantage was the amount of cockroaches in the accommodation, but that is the jungle. All the water and meals (B, L, D) were included. The cook made nice meals and the presentation was very funny. What I missed was a possibility to buy any drink and snacks in the late afternoon at the lodge. Also the swimming pool was not finished. It was not promised, but for the money it should be nice. We paid $460 per person. We didn't had any extra costs. Only tipping and day 4 in Puerto Maldonado. And we were with 2 persons, this was nice. We saw also companies with 20 persons. But $460 is a little bit overpriced. We met also several people who paid half and are in a group of 5-10 people and did the same program. I think it is a lodge with a lot of potention. Some points should be improved and more professionalized and it will be for sure one of the better places in the...
Read moreWent here with a group of 10. We had the whole lodge to ourselves along with the guide and staff. The food was great. 6 course meals and great presention. You fill up water bottles from 5 gallon purified water bottles in the main eating lodge. The bungalows are open with 2 beds and a bathroom. Mesquito netting is over each bed. A few simple things would have made the stay better. Cleaner rooms. soap and shampo in the bathrooms. I had some extra which I gave to some of our people in our group who didn't bring any. Ceiling fans above the beds and in the main dinning room. They run the generator most of the time starting around the time they have to prepare meals and then until around 10pm so fans would be a huge improvement as it was very hot and humid with no air movement at all. Quieter generator. It was loud and you couldn't hear the jungle sounds when it was running. ||||The guide and cook were great. They took us on lots of jungle hikes and boat rides. saw lots of monkeys, Cayman crocodiles, otters on a lake, large bugs, etc. 5 stars for the food...
Read moreSet about an hour down the river Puerto Maldonado. You climb the river bank and a 2min walk through the jungle path and you arrive at the jungle lodges. We stayed their 4 days. They seem new and very clean. There is a large communal eating area with a selection of drinks. All areas netted. The bungalows I think hold double beds or triples and are ensuite. Mosquito nets provided. All rooms were clean and bedding changed daily with insect spray on the floors. Mosquitos are vicious outside the room but ad it's the Amazon jungle that's to be expected. The chefs were great with 3 course meals breakfast, lunch and dinner and the guide Andreas kept us busy with boating and day and night treks. Early boat rides to look at the parrots, boating to look at monkeys, cayman and giant river otters. NB as it's in the jungle, the generator for power is only on usually for a few hours in the evening. But they did put it in for us for special reasons if we asked. Really nice stay,...
