I’ve stayed in a lot of nice places over the years, but Belmond Hotel Las Casitas really stands out. It’s honestly one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at.||The setting is absolutely stunning—right in the middle of the Colca Canyon, surrounded by dramatic views in every direction. The property itself is incredibly well-kept and just beautiful. You feel like you’re completely tucked away from the world, which is exactly what we wanted.||Our casita felt like a little home of its own. Super cozy but still luxurious, with everything we could have needed: a fireplace we used every night, a private hot tub with a view, and even an outdoor shower. It was private, peaceful, and incredibly relaxing. Waking up to that view every morning felt like a gift.||Everything about the place is designed to help you slow down and recharge. It’s quiet and calm—no traffic, no noise, just the sound of birds and the occasional breeze. If you need to reset and get some energy back, this is the place.||Food & Spa||The food was fantastic. Everything we ate was fresh and full of flavor, and a lot of it comes straight from their own organic gardens, which you can actually see on the property. You can tell the ingredients are high-quality and that the kitchen puts real thought into every dish.||The spa was another highlight. We had great treatments that left us feeling completely relaxed. Afterward, we did a short spiritual experience led by one of the therapists—it was something different, and really well done. Not cheesy, just calm and thoughtful.||Daily Activities||There are small, nice touches during the day too—like helping feed the alpacas and llamas in the morning. It’s optional but fun, especially if you’re an animal lover or just want to start the day doing something a little different.||Service That Makes the Difference||What really made this stay unforgettable, though, was the service. Every single person we met was warm, welcoming, and genuinely cared that we were having a great time.||Diego, the concierge, was amazing—he helped us plan our hiking and gave us useful tips we wouldn’t have known otherwise. The general manager checked in with us a few times during our stay just to make sure everything was going well. You could tell he really wanted to make sure guests were happy.||At the restaurant, the staff were just next-level. One night, our waitress sang for us after dinner—something we didn’t expect but that made the night really memorable. And the attention to detail was incredible. One morning, I grabbed some cereal from the buffet, and by the time I sat down, a spoon had already been placed at my table. It’s the kind of thing you don’t notice right away, but it sticks with you.||It felt like everyone there loved their job and took pride in making guests feel special. Final Thoughts
This is the kind of place that stays with you long after you’ve left. Between the scenery, the peaceful atmosphere, the great food, and the truly amazing service, it was one of the best travel experiences I’ve ever had. I’d go back in...
Read moreWhen a friend told me about Las Casitas and encouraged me to go and stay there, I didn’t really know what would be in store. After excellent experiences with the Belmond Hotels in Peru, I was drawn in by the photos on the website. My friend described the place to me as “magical”. I really had no idea as I set off to stay there, just how true that was.
Las Casitas is set in one of the most spectacular and unique landscapes imaginable. As we drove down the narrow winding pathway that lead to the hotel, I stared with wide eyes out the window at the view. It is the kind of view that takes your breath away and reminds you of the beauty in the world. As you approach the hotel and the casitas come into view, it’s like a small village of perfection just tucked away into a picturesque valley.
Without a doubt it is the best location to experience Colca canyon. Waking every morning in my casita I was greeted by the incredible view. The staff as I’ve come to expect at Belmond hotels were conscientious and welcoming. Reception reached out prior to my arrival asking what they could provide to improve my stay. Every little detail was there, my likes and dislikes noted and catered for. The lovely touches of a fruit and nut platter, a welcome bottle of wine and a note.
That attention to detail continued my entire stay and it was very nice to have the manager always ask after how the stay was and take such an active role in ensuring guests comfort. I heard him tell others and myself this is your home too. Such is the Belmond experience, but Las Casitas is special. I must also praise the communication of activities and experiences to take part in on the property.
I fell in love with the baby llama and the daily alpaca feeding ritual. I enjoyed a lengthy horse ride through the canyon with a wonderful guide and even more wonderful horse! The spa is excellent and a perfect place to relax after exploring. The restaurant in the evenings added a touch of something special. An opportunity to throw some heels on and indulge in some of the best food I’ve had in Peru.
It’s incredible to experience the gardens, trout and salmon that is farmed and see the farm to table experience come to life. I was sad to not have a longer stay so that I may have tried every item on the menu. I did my best though and some stand outs were the salmon starter, the country trout, queso helado and I adored the quinoa soup. The bread here is also some of the best bread you will ever eat in your life.
I could go on for far too long writing this. So I will just say if you are wanting to experience Colca canyon and want to make memories that will last forever go here. I had genuine moments of joy that you can not put a price on. I will be doing my best to return for a few more nights before I finally head home. This was such a unique and beautiful experience and I thank all of the staff who made this one of the best holidays of my life. There really is a little magic in the air and it’s a small piece of...
