I was excited to find a classy restaurant like La Planta in Bais City and visited for the first time in September 2023. My first impressions were underwhelming, but since they were still newly opened, I cut them some slack. The staff are amazing, and the ambiance is good, which is why it’s disappointing that the food falls so short of expectations.

Recently, I returned for dinner with my parents. We don’t usually eat out in Bais due to the lack of decent places that fit our tastes, so we typically go to Dumaguete for meals and special occasions. Unfortunately, the experience at La Planta was underwhelming, especially given the high prices that rival those in Dumaguete. For example, 6 pieces of lumpia cost ₱250, and 6-7 pieces of crispy calamares cost ₱310. Both dishes were bland, desperately needing more salt. The crispy pata also lacked seasoning, and overall, the food we ordered didn’t live up to the prices. The kansi, burger, and lasagna were decent, but the rest of the meal was a letdown.

The pizzas were especially disappointing. The signature pizza didn’t feel worthy of the title, with a mediocre crust and uninspired toppings. The pepperoni pizza was even worse, tasting more like a cheap sausage than authentic pepperoni.

In general, the food at La Planta lacks character, with forgettable and bland flavors that don’t justify the high prices. It’s hard to recommend this place for a proper dining experience. If you’re looking for a meal worth the cost, I suggest skipping Bais and heading to Dumaguete, where you’ll find better flavors at similar...

We had dinner at La Planta Bais, and honestly, it was disappointing. The place gives a fine dining impression with its classic interior and framed artworks, but the overall experience didn’t live up to the expectation—especially with the prices they charge.

The food wasn’t served hot or even warm—only the rice came out hot. The dishes themselves were just okay in taste, and presentation was very average. For the price point, I expected better quality and serving portions. What shocked me most was the pricing: an iced tea costs ₱160 per glass, which feels way too overpriced.

Their Facebook menu isn’t updated, which can be misleading to customers who check beforehand. Service was decent, but not the kind of attentive or refined service you’d normally expect in a fine dining restaurant.

I’ve been to many places with far better food, ambiance, and service at much more reasonable prices. Sadly, La Planta Bais feels like you’re paying for the “fine dining” label rather than the actual experience.

Overall verdict: overpriced, underwhelming, and...
