Luxus Residencia de Baler feels like a manor house of your long lost rich grandparents or as they say in tagalog, bahay ng mayaman na lolo at lola.||||The property is just a tric away from baler central terminal and just a few more minutes away to get to the resort to sabang beach. ||Yes, it is close enough to the city proper that you would feel you could get around to places easily and would not miss anything, but is far enough to feel that you are on a more private and intimate location.||||First thing I loved about the place is it's ambiance. It doesn't feel like a generic resort nor hotel. If anything, it made me feel like a grandson to rich grandparents that wants to welcome me home, make me feel at home and tells me "you could stay as long as you want, everything is fine, we'll be taking care of you as long as you want" without the whole mushy awkward conversation you may or may not have with your own grandparents.||||Speaking of ambiance, note for all the photographers, the ambient light on this property is just superb. One could get all sort of great shots just by pointing the lens even on the most common frame because of the quality of the ambient light it receives.||||Following that, the second thing I loved about the place is its architectural design and quality. My words wouldn't be enough, it is better to see it personally with your own eyes.||||Third, the water on the pool is clean. You may arrive at the property with a side of the pool with no water, which is because the management sees to it that every pool is clean, the water on it is clean and the pool does not need chlorine to be clean. There are about 4 or so sides to the pool, that even if the other sides are not accessible, you could just use the others, which is guaranteed to be clean.||||Fourth, the management and the staffs doesn't feel like just "employees" that was hired to take care of the property. They feel like long lost relatives and friends that you could depend on. Even just on the process of booking and asking for information, it would almost feel like a "too good to be true" situation. Don't worry, it is real. They are still learning but I trust that they would grow more and grow better.||||The price tag may be higher compared to other lodgings targeted more for barkadas or surf-centric stays, but if you are looking for something more than just a lodging place after surfing at sabang beach, if you are looking for something that you want to take your special someone with and have a romantic time on baler, if you are looking for something that you could bring your family on a more private accommodation, if you are looking for something that is on a more quiet side of baler without traveling all the way out to cemento nor diguisit, Luxus Residencia de Baler may be the place you are looking for.||||If you are worried about the images you see here or at their fb page, they just need an update and a more dedicated team to bring out the "luxury" the property has to offer. Trust me when I say that the current images(early may 2017) just scratches the surface of the potential it has.||||For that, I'm rating this place 10 koi fishes out of a pond with a stone bridge.||||A note for the ones who would commute via tric ride, remember the phrase/reference "malapit kela ben mata", it would help...
Read moreOur family of 7 Adults and 5 Kids went on an overnight family outing in Baler, Aurora. So I looked for a place to stay thru Agoda. I wanted a quiet, affordable place with a swimming pool, and I found this place. The place will be a little hard to locate, but thanks to Google Maps, we were able to find it. Upon arrival, there was no one at the gate to meet us. But finally, the manager (Elin) came out to greet us. The big parking area is just in front of the hotel, and is a covered warehouse. The hotel as I later learned was formerly a private estate that was converted to a hotel. Don't expect any bellboys or concierge to assist you with your bags. I booked a Grand Suite with 5 single beds and 1 queen bed, and a Suite with 1SB and 1QB. But the manager upgraded us to another suite with 2SB and 1QB for free. The hotel was really an awesome discovery which we did not expect. The facade was simple but nice. The garden was well maintained and lush with greenery. The hotel itself was spotlessly clean and the floors, walls and ceilings were very shiny. But the most amazing was the swimming pool which was exquisitely designed, and which our kids enjoyed a lot. And since we were the only guests in the hotel, it was like we rented the whole estate at a very cheap price. Our room (the Grand Suite) was big, with 2 bedrooms, 2 aircon units, and 2 TVs with cable channels. It has a safety deposit box. There is also a small sofa, a dresser, and a wardrobe cabinet. The bathroom which was a bit cramped, was equipped with a bathtub, with hot and cold overhead rainfall shower, with body massage jets. Free toiletries were also provided. It also has a separate toilet with bidet. And since there was no exhaust, the toilet was scented with burning incense and an essential oil diffuser. All the beds have canopies, and were very comfortable. The pillows, linens and towels were fresh. The only thing missing was a ref. Our accommodation also came with free set breakfast which was simple but ok. The only thing that would probably turn off clients are those who don't have private transport since it is a bit far from the beach, restaurants, and night life, and only a few tricycle pass by especially at night. But for those looking for peace and quiet and a comfortable place to stay, I highly recommend this place. And oh! Elin - the manager was very nice, friendly, accommodating, and a...
Read moreMy visit to Baler ( BAH-lair) was not that of the usual tourist. I was there to visit a friend and to continue my explorations of the smaller towns of the Philippines. This set me apart from the visitors who go to Baler principally for the beach and surfing. So I had no interest in being near the beach nor near the noise and rowdiness that sometimes accompany such locations. So LUXUS RESIDENCIA's location was both a draw and a drawback: away from the "action" on the beach, it was a quiet oasis in a country where roosters, barking dogs, loud motorcycles, and karaoke bars are some of the prominent breakers of peace and quiet. On the other hand, it was also a fair distance from restaurants and Baler's town center. However, Baler is a fairly compact small city, so getting around on foot and with the ubiquitous motor tricycles was not a problem.| The B & B itself is a gem: clean, quiet, and with an exceedingly gracious staff. I felt as though I were a guest in a private mansion, which the physical building resembles. The structure itself is surrounded by beautiful gardens and a pool, as well as a high wall which does a good job of isolating the property from noise. | Whether the property's rate is high or not no doubt depends on your budget, but I did consider it good value considering what it offers, which includes an ample breakfast. Although I would certainly return to the Luxus Residencia in a heartbeat, I do not give it five stars for two reasons: first, I very seldom give such a ranking to any establishment, whether restaurant or hotel, unless it is truly outstanding and exceptional. And second, although Luxus Residencia is clean, quiet, and good value, it does not offer additional amenities for entertainment beyond its pool, and it lacks a restaurant (apart from breakfast service). Although this is certainly understandable, given the fact that the property has only seven guestrooms, in Baler this is a considerable drawback, given the severe lack of recommendable dining...
