Stayed here to do business in Baclayon. In terms of location, it was perfect as it was near the church, plaza and baluarte and it was along the highway so I can easily ride a jeep to Tagbilaran if I needed to buy something. The room I stayed in was as basic as it can get - just a bed, a side table, a fan and a cabinet. Not that I expected a lot because of the price (Php1200 a night). There was aircon but I turned it off because it was very noisy I could hardly sleep. The TV was set flat against the wall and near the celing so when you're lying on the bed you can hardly see what you're watching. A little tilt could have improved the viewing experience. The wall facing outside was made of locally weaved material. Though it was a nice touch, that made it so easy to hear what's happening outside. I woke up several times during the night because of animals howling (they keep some in the backyard) and a dog(?) scratching my door.||||The whole affair was very informal from check in to check out. No reception area or staff, just the owners and some helpers. Lito and Mayette were very warm and talked to the guests like family. I can recall a hilarious moment when Lito asked if I already had breakfast. He merely shouted at the window outside the toilet (I was taking a shower then) instead of knocking on the door and asking politely as they do in hotels and inns. Funny - just like at home.||||There are a number of other homestay options in Baclayon (wonderful town by the way) - do search for BAHANDI in the internet. It's a group in which Homestay de Bai is a member of. I am more inclined to try the others in my next visit but if they're unavailable, returning to Homestay de Bai won't be...

Also, it is quite far from the beaches but easily accessible by jeep (only 8 pesos to Tagbilaran) or by tricycle (60 pesos if you're lucky - 100 pesos is a standard tho). Not much to do in Baclayon, the Church is still under renovation, but there is a nice pier if you want to catch a sunrise/sunset or a ferry to Panglao Island. ||The hosts were friendly and took time to talk. It was a real pleasure to meet the family and spend a little time with the family. The staff was super nice, lady working in the kitchen very helpful. Ah, the breakfast not outstanding but ok, rice egg and slice of ham. We've found a lot of bedbugs on the sheets too, after our 3rd of 4th night. Stayed 7 nights, possibly would choose somehwere in Panglao next time. One step from the beach and no need to spend money...
