Uptown Condotel — Hotel in Cagayan de Oro

1: no toilet seats||2: ants in the room||3:moldy bathtub.||||For a hotel claiming to be 4½ stars, and having "Exclusivity, Luxury and Prestige" as their motto, they are full of themselves, the staff are nicely dressed, the lobby looks nice, the rooms look nice, until you actually check behind the facade.||||Then it becomes clear it is pretty much a place that promises a lot, and dissapoints just as much. I know I am from a rich western country, I am used to much more than what people in the Philippines are, but I am also used to hotels who claim to give you "exclusive luxury" they actually get torn down and closed if they fail to do so...||||Check my pictures, you will understand I am not telling lies or exxagerating, but this place is a 2-2,5 star hotel by European standarts (2,5-3 in Philippine standarts)||||it is overpriced to a degree that it costs twice of other hotels in CDO, but delivers the same in matters of cleanliness and maintenance.||||the first day we had no toilet seat, we asked if they had seats for the toilet, and after 30 min, 2 guys came to mount the seat, yes 2 guys, who both expected a tip for allowing you to poop under normal comfort.||||their dirty shoes messed up the towel for our feet, so we asked for housekeeping, sure if we wanted to pay 250 pesos for housekeeping, yeah this luxury hotel did not have housekeeping included in their 38$ per night fee... that was on top...||||they had a choice of 6 breakfast items, one called "american" yet for the 8 days I was there, there was no american Breakfast, so I had - garlic rice with fried SPAM.. yes Ham scraps in a Can... ||What a luxury breakfast...!!! Yuck...||||if only they did not promise "luxury" "exclusivity" and "prestige" and maybe charged 20$ per night instead of 38$ per night, then I would not have been so negative, but dammit, mold and ants, and a toilet without seat is so far from any of those 3 words meaning as can be... even for the...

Over ten years I have come to trust most of ten reviews and ratings I see on Trip Advisor, but the Uptown Condotel 4 star rating is a bad joke! |This is an old, worn out, somewhat dirty and smelly hotel with horrible service. The rooms are in sore need of upgrading and repair and nothing really works as it should. the amenities are essentially non- existence. This 4-star hotel provides a coin size soap, a cheap toothbrush and a dab of toothpaste in their luxury suites- nothing else! No water, no coffee, no Matt’s in ten bathroom or floors, but a few cockroaches in the room are complementary! Oh- yes- they also, for some mysterious reason, provide only one key to the room and if a second guest wants to go in and out they must be accompanied by a hotel security to get in their own room!! The restaurant also enjoys the same low standards starting with a glass entrance which I saw at least two people crashed into due to lack of proper marking of the door and the fixed glass. The room design was nice. It was PROBABLY very nice when the place was new.

A few days ago, we stayed there for three nights. The plumbing needs repair. The tub needs to be replaced since it was discolored yellow and does not look inviting to have a bath in. The shower head was spouting water at the base of the shower head. It needs to be replaced as well. The shower doors need to be cleaned. They have water calcification all over and looks dirty.

The toilet seat is not properly fixed and therefore slides out of place. There is no bidet.

The wash basin is also dirty and the wood frame needs repair or replacement.

The kitchen sink has water calcification and stains.

There were many light bulbs in the room that doesn’t work. The sofa was not comfortable to sit in.

The aircon was a little warm.

The breakfast was not good at all. We decided not to eat there even if it was paid for.

The staff did What they could. But it is really the repair and maintenance that needs to...
