Hotel Baudilio — Hotel in Carigara

The Hotel is near the main road/highway where most vans/buses going to and from Tacloban pass by. You can either walk or ride a pedicab (P5-10) to the Hotel from the highway. It's quite known in the area so it's easy to ask directions from the locals.||||It's also only a couple of blocks away from the market and the Boulevard where you can take a nice sunset stroll and eat dinner by the shore. There are lots of ihaw-ihaw along the Boulevard and tables are already set up for customers.||||Reasonable prices for the rooms. You can order meals/frappes/sandwiches from the Cafe (dine-in or room service). The meals are good and inexpensive, but I recommend a sunset dinner at the Boulevard if you're looking for a more romantic way to end the day. ||||Strong wifi connection in the lobby but not so much in the rooms. Breakfast, TV, aircon, private bathroom (cold water only) are all included. We weren't charged for extra pillows and stuff so I guess that's also a plus point. The staff and security guards are friendly as well. ||||Lot's of pedicabs pass by the street so it's convenient to get around. Better to ride a pedicab if you're not familiar with the place because the streets criss-cross each other and it's fairly easy...

The room is in my top 3 of worse rooms I've ever been in. Why? Dirty, ugly as sin walls, unknown brown stuff on walls, air-conditioning not working properly, no curtain in shower, TINY tv and poor quality picture, cigarette burns in no smoking room, hollow core doors, no real safety locks, thin and hard mattress, hard as a rock pillows and no comforter. Now for the coffee shop. It's nice, looks clean and live music in evenings. Very limited menu if a foreigner. But ordered coffee. Waitress said they have 0 calorie sweetener... Lol. It's (?) brown sugar in water. So if your diabetic, bring your own sweetener!!!! I ordered a bacon and egg sandwich and 3 extra orders of bacon. Asked for it to all be on sandwich and egg on side. It came out as a bacon Panini and egg. The extra bacon on a plate. I told waitress again I wanted all bacon on the sandwich, not a panini. It came on toast with some sort of pink sauce on it. Coffee good and strong. Aircon a bit warm for me I'd give coffee shop 2.5 stars Almost forgot... This page says FREE...

Our stay here wasn’t the best but I would say it’s bearable. A lot of things can be improved but it’s best to focus on cleanliness and comfort.

Comfort room and air conditioning requires deep cleaning, pillows and mattress should be changed to improve comfort, the room was dim and should be changed with bright lights, and beddings should at least be washed with fab con to improve the smell.

I would say the location was at best and food is available downstairs. Will I consider staying here again or recommend this to other people visiting Carigara? If you’re a frequent traveller and these things mentioned above wouldn’t be an issue to you, then yes I’d recommend this. But if you are not on a budget, you may consider...
