Emmalyn's Paradise Resort — Hotel in Catanduanes Island

This was the worst place I stayed at, during my 6 months stay in the Philippines. I'd give it no-stars if I could.

We stayed there during off-season. The website offers free airport pick up/drop off and breakfast for two adults and at a room rate of PHP500. We paid PHP750, paid a stupid amount for rice and chicken, had to argue at length to get breakfast, did not get dropped off at the ferry (instead we paid an outrageous price for a tricycle organized by the caretaker), got a room with a broken shower and no A/C (all other rooms were empty, but they could not give us a room with a working shower), no WIFI and a very dirty swimming pool. The caretaker couldn't care less and just said that the owner is back in the states, that she hasn't updated the website and took the WIFI router with her.

The only reason we chose this place is because we wanted to check out the nearby marine sanctuary. The carepointer told us it was just down the beach when we arrived. However, it was nowhere to be found, neither did locals know about it. So, there's really no reason whatsoever to stay at this rather...

Swimming pool in bad condition which is so foggy white. Scary to swim in since you don't see the pool floor. Outdoor shower is non existent. No beach sand in the area.

Wifi available only near the reception.

They don't have an outdoor kitchen facility (sink, barbecue grill).

A staff knocked at our room early on our first morning and woke us up just to check if the room is "occupied" to check if the aircon is left running to turn it off. All our footwear were just outside the door which tell it is occupied. A minor inconvenience to us which is preventable.

Great view of Mt. Mayon from its location. Great staff and very accomodating whenever we need a transportation support going...
