I stayed at Puraran Surf Beach Resort for one week in early March 2017. I reserved the aircon cottage. It was a large, comfortable cottage. I never utilized the aircon because the breeze was pleasant during the day and almost chilly at night. Mosquitos could get a little aggressive at night, but I brought a mosquito net and hung it over the bed and slept well. The bed mattress is the typical foam mattress. A bit thin and provided for a hard sleep. Could use a thicker firmer mattress. There is no hot water for a shower. I asked the ladies over at the resto to heat water for me which I then poured in the big shower/toilet flushing bucket and had a nice warm bucket and tabo shower. The cottage was otherwise clean and comfy and the TV worked ok. Food in the resto was good and did not make me sick. The property itself is absolutely idyllic. The drive down into the resort is gorgeous. Then you see the water and rocks and crashing waves and you wonder why you don't just live here. I will definitely return...
Read moreThis is as of January 26 2019. We got a nipa room for roughly 600 PHP/ 12 USD per night. It has 3 beds with own toilet and bath. You need to bring your own toiletries. If you didn't they have a small convenience store open till 7pm only. The floor is bamboo, walls are nipa, has a small balcony. Door lock is a padlock when leaving the hut for the day. I think this is more than great value for your money. However the food choices are limited. Would be great if they offer seasonal produce and catch of the day to help the local farmers and fisher folks. The meal would cost 200 php per head. Except breakfast which is only around 125 php which already has instant coffee/choco. The resort can also cook meals for you if you buy from the market. But this is something you have to ask and arrange for in advance. It's not something they proactively inform customers. Do I recommend it? Definitely. Just have the right expectations for 12...

Imagine sipping a cup of warm chocolate in a laid-back place by the sea with gentle early morning Pacific breeze on your face. Very relaxing.
This place is very humble and was not crowded when we checked in. Folks were playing beach volleyball, and a kite surfer entertained us with spectacle of water acrobats.
They have small pantry that offered hearty meals and cold beer perfect after a day's worth of activities. The food was great, affordable and was served in sizable servings. As in other small towns, they close at around 9 or 10pm so stock up for the night with water and some snacks.
The staff was accommodating and fun. We shared a few good laughs.
I also enjoyed the company of their local dogs, the friendly aspins. They were cute and clingy during mealtime, and they were my trusted companions during my night and early...
