Samboan was not part of our original itinerary but after seeing photos of Dao and Aguinid Falls, we thought a visit to this little town in South Cebu is a must. ||There are quite a few places to stay in Samboan. List of accommodations can be found on 'Samboan Guide' mobile app. We had a couple of places in mind however when we enquired about their rates, it was a little outside our budget so we ended up staying at Gorion Beach Resort. ||Rates in Gorion are: P700 for a double room with fan; and P1000 for a double room with A/C. Cottages are old but it's clean with comfortable bed and pillows, flush toilet, cold shower. It's located right on the waterfront, approx 5 minutes walk into the town centre. ||We were so thankful to have chosen this place to stay as the caretaker of the resort, Alex, knew the way to Dao Falls. In fact he can be a guide, if need be. Guide fee: P200. We normally like to do things independently but we were not so keen to take chances on Dao Falls as all we had was a vague description of how to get there. It didn't sound easy to find and it was not. Some tricycle drivers may be able to take you to the village where the hike starts from but not all of them know as I noticed when we took the tricycle, Alex had to tell driver which way to go and which turn off to take. Dao Falls is definitely worth visiting. ||For Food: There are eateries in town centre of Samboan but the lady who lives next to Gorion (Ate Karen) can cook food at a very affordable price. Just don't order too many dishes as the serving per...
Read moreWe did not have reservations when we went to Samboan and ended up staying at Gorion Beach Resort. ||||While my expectations were low, the resort was still a disappointment. If not for the kind staff, I would have given this a 1 star. ||||Accommodations||We arrived early in the morning. We were told the room would not be available until 12 NN so we went falls-hopping and arrived back at past 3 PM. Sadly, the room was still not ready. They had nowhere for us to stay in despite our “basang sisiw” look as from Aguinid Falls, we went straight to the resort in the hopes of freshening up. After 20-30 minutes, we were led to our room, which needed repainting. It also had wall stains, battered furniture, and a noisy aircon. The tiles on the bathroom were yellowish. ||||Tip: Bring your own toiletries and towels. None was provided. ||||Beachfront||We were out most of the day so we never got to swim by the beach. We were told it was swim-able but on the times that we were there, the waves were strong and high. The views were beautiful though come sunset. ||||Service||The people were all nice, typical of Filipino people especially in the provinces. They were all very helpful but needed training. ||||In closing, what Gorion Beach Resort offers are just rooms to sleep in. Its location is ideal because it is near Da-o, Triple Drop and Aguinid Falls and the town proper, but if you want a quality resort when in Samboan, stay at...
Read moreNatalie and her family were so welcoming to me and my partner! We came across her guest house unplanned as we arrived in Samboan not knowing what to expect! It is a small village with little tourists other than at the main attractions which include a handful of beautiful waterfalls and we also visited the mainit hot springs! The main reason we had such a good time was because Natalie and her family are the nicest and most hospitable people we met our whole trip! Very honest and helpful with information on where to go and how to get around and also an idea of what we should be paying! The room was excellent and food that Natalie and her family freshly made for us on request was beautiful! Anything we needed she would have it bought to our room and also a small store was located directly outside! We had great fun and even had a sing song on the Karaoke machine! We stayed with Natalie for 4 nights and enjoyed every minute! Thank you for welcoming us into your family and I would highly recommend this...
