Happy bear — Hotel in Cebu

This wonderful little place is located inland, between White Beach and the Marine Sanctuary at the Northern tip of the Moalboal peninsula. It is rather new, run by a very kind and helpful UK-philippino couple, Brian and Yolanda. We rented it through booking.com. The property consists of the hosts’ own house, a nice swimming pool and garden, and 3 apartments, each perfect for a family / group of 4. Two of the apartments are very modern “villas”, build in concrete, and have 2 rooms each: 1 large bedroom with 2 fabulous king-size beds (easily sleeps 4 people) and very efficient aircon, and 1 large living room (without aircon) where the main entrance from the terrace/patio is. The bathrooms are also high-quality, including waterfall-shower with lots of hot water. The third 2-room apartment is build in traditional bamboo-style, also very nice. Outside the villas, there is a nice terrace with roof/shadow, and complete outdoor kitchen with gas oven and large refrigerator and dining area, which we found perfect for our family needs. Distance to the Marine Sanctuary about 1 km, to White Beach about 2 km, we rented the 2 nice new scooters available for rent at the property, and had lots of fun, snorkeling at the nearby beaches, and making trips to Moalboal city about 5 km away. The hosts will help you with arranging transport to e.g. Kawasan Falls (fantastic!), Cebu, etc....

Great owners! Very friendly and quick in answering emails! You can rent a scooter and the pool is small but nice, too. However - and that's why I wouldn't rate four or five stars: we booked a "villa" which is basically two large basic rooms. One has two double beds, the other one is nearly empty, consisting of only a couch and a sofa. I expected a villa to be more "villa"- like. We stayed two nights, the room wasn't cleaned like again I'd expect it when booking a and paying for a villa.

People who book should also consider that the location of Happy Bear is in the middle of nowhere. It's a scooter drive from town and a scooter drive from the beach. Therefore it is quiet quiet at night. But if you come to the area to be at the beach you should think twice if this is the place to book. We loved it still for being excluded. And at the end of the day we had our scooter to go wherever we want...

I stayed there 10 days. I generally don't leave feedbacks but this time I feel I have to. Here it is: I stayed there to be in a remote and quiet place but there are several karaokes around, playing loud from 2 pm to 1 am almost everyday, so forget about peace I was the only guest in 10 days but one time there was not water so I could not take a shower, and they refused for me to use the washing machine, it sounds really stingy they did not clean my room in 10 days, didn't change bed sheets most of them except the girl who manages the place would not dare to say a simple "hello", ignoring me as long as I pay for my room Overall, I can not recommend this place...
